So I graduate in December and am placed with a living arrangement dilemma. I'd love to stay where I am, but the landlord won't do a semester lease. I've considered just staying in the dorms for that semester, and basically just go home to Wilmington every weekend...but it's the dorms and I wouldn't know anybody. Aside from that are there any apartments that offer semester leases? Who's been in this position and what did you end up doing?
Thanks! 2/14/2007 10:27:50 PM |

you're allowed to stay in dorms after you graduated? 2/14/2007 10:30:54 PM |

Several apartment complexes offer 6-month leases at a higher rate.
My suggestion, there are PLENTY of classifieds looking for temporary roommates for fall, spring, or summer. People do study aboard, go on coop assignments, etc. unexpected arrangements can happen at the last minute. Look through the ads, talk/meet with the people, pick a living situation that most closely matches what you are looking for. 2/14/2007 11:02:09 PM |

^ I second that.
Plus people that own just a few properties are more likey to work with you on a short term lease. 2/15/2007 9:18:42 AM |

Or resign a a new lease for the year and then sublease it for the spring semester when you will be gone. (Thats probably harder though than subleasing from someone else for just the fall.) 2/15/2007 10:34:53 AM |

^Thought about that, but I had a hellish time subleasing it last summer, and don't want to get stuck.

I'm in the same boat....Need somewhere to live in the fall...
I'm thinking about just buying a townhouse or something though because I'm trying to stay in the Raleigh/RTP area. 2/15/2007 2:38:38 PM |

You can rent rooms in my house as long as you meet the minimum requirements (have money, have morals, not a total weirdo.) I'll need to do a comprehensive post history check. 2/15/2007 5:20:42 PM |
