Hi everybody. I keep hearing a lot about NCSU's poor free throw percentage.
NCSU .714
a sample of other teams FT%
Miami .712 North Carowina .704 Maryland .699 Duke .690 Georgia Tech .681 Virginia Tech .675 Wake Forest .631 Clemson .601
What is the solution to this problem? 2/16/2007 10:40:07 AM |

we don't shoot freethrows poorly.
We do, however, miss key freethrows. 2/16/2007 10:40:57 AM |

solution
making free throws when we need them most 2/16/2007 10:42:41 AM |

yeah like when you are losing, you make a stop, and come down with a chance to tie the game on the FT line, but you miss two and they go to the other end and make a 3.... 2/16/2007 10:43:36 AM |

Wait.
Nobody is complaining about 3 pointers. But we are dead LAST in the ACC at 3pters. 2/16/2007 10:44:14 AM |

because 3pt % doesn't tell you as much, were they wide open? well contested? long range?
Every free throw is exactly the same.
and every team's fans complains about missed free throws.
welcome to the world of sports fans.

because free throws are not much more than muscle memory, which is gained through practice. Just about the only excuse for poor free throw % is lack of practice, which most find unacceptable.2/16/2007 11:06:54 AM |

only one of the 30 NBA teams shoots less than 70% from the line as the home team..and all of them shoot over 70% from the line on the road
OMG COLLEGE PLAYERS CAN SHOOT BETTER 2/16/2007 11:17:24 AM |

Seriously I wonder why people always make up myths about the NBA is it because there are more black players or that the NBA is aligned with hiphop? 2/16/2007 12:46:45 PM |

i think people love march madness and how cinderella teams can win a title unlike the nba where 99% of the time in a 7 game series, the best team will win
but then they get delusional and start claiming utter bullshit like college defense is better lol 2/16/2007 12:53:44 PM |
JayMCnasty All American 14180 Posts user info edit post |
college defense is only "better" because the offenses in college are more likely to turn the ball over than in the NBA 2/16/2007 12:55:50 PM |

wait, its a bad thing that they play a 7 game series to see if the best team wins?
i love that it is the way it is in college
but in the pros, teams have millions invested in players and coaches and it would be a crime for them to play one game and advance
plus, less teams than Ncaa, and more games per series = more $
thats why the first round is now 7 games, im not complaining, i love the nba playoffs 2/16/2007 12:58:54 PM |

College defense is better because players brick open shots. 2/16/2007 12:59:44 PM |

^^hey, i like the one-and-done march madness format as well as the best-of-7 nba playoffs format...i love basketball so its not hard for me to love the best players in the world (NBA)

whats so bad about it? season is too long? probably...what else? and i'd appreciate something specific...I could care less if people dislike or like the NBA, but I just hope you don't come with some "overpaid thugs" type false cliche for your reasoning2/16/2007 1:02:25 PM |

thats right, nba defense looks really bad when guys are jacking up shots from half court and making them... I mean the best players in the league can still drop 40 on the best defenders
i would agree there are a lot less uncontested layups in college 2/16/2007 1:02:56 PM |

also a lot less 5'9" slow white point guards in the NBA 2/16/2007 1:03:35 PM |

is when your sister tells you shes dating a point guard 2/16/2007 1:04:17 PM |

i dislike the NBA, because theyre just too good. the nba just isnt as exciting to me. doesnt get me pumped like college does, partly because ive never had a "team" or even reason to have one. 2/16/2007 1:04:22 PM |

^^ahahaha
^i'm certainly more passionate about my wolfpack
but after going to dozens of bobcats games and seeing the team come along, im definitely a fan
college ball and pro ball have a lot of differences even though they're both organized basketball
i like em both though 2/16/2007 1:05:41 PM |

college commentators are so dumb the biggest thing where the NBA owns college basketball is Charles Barkley, Ernie Johnson, and Kenny Smith 2/16/2007 1:05:56 PM |

yeah, got bobcats season tickets too!
although its funny...i went to the bulls game wednesday night, but spent the 3rd quarter and about half of the 4th quarter in the bar watching the Pack lose to the Twerps...then went back to the seats to watch the end of the game in which my Bobcats whooped the Bulls by 15...Okafor had 15 points, 21 rebounds and 6 blocks! 2/16/2007 1:09:34 PM |

Bill Walton is the best NBA commentator by far. He's the man.
I sometimes get bored by the NBA because of the long season, when players know they have to conserve energy so they don't give 100% every game. but I really like it when playoff time comes around. 2/16/2007 1:10:51 PM |

i like Bill Walton, he makes me laugh when he calls a Lakers game and Luke is in the game
but yeah, no DickyV and Packer = NBA commentators better than college

no doubt
i think thats one of the main reasons that charlotteans seem to liek the nba a little more than people in raleigh...just the disconnect
i love state bball but havent been to a game yet this year, for similar reasons (driving a few hours) 2/16/2007 1:13:34 PM |
