but, but, but Barry never won a Super Bowl.
People hated on Manning, but don't on Barry.
Why is just QBs that get judged on that? 2/16/2007 11:00:41 PM |

Because a QB can make it happen. A RB just doesn't wield that kind of power. 2/16/2007 11:07:50 PM |

You don't have to have Superbowl wins to be the best ever, but it can put you over the top in any position.
Who's the best kicker ever? And how many superbowl wins does he have?2/17/2007 12:32:29 AM |

no it was because of bobby ross, who changed the offense from the one back where barry excelled to the split back formations. Barry adapted and did what was good for the team. Ross had 2 mediocre seasons and in his 3rd, he and the Ford's decided they needed to start from scratch. Barry, the consumate team player, rather that go to some other team, decided to retire on top because the Lions mgt and coach took the fun out of the game. He didnt want to be part of the 4h detroit "rebuilding" process during his stay there.
Barry left the way he left the field after scoring a touchdown; classy and revered by every player to watch or play with him. 2/17/2007 12:34:56 AM |

Lets talk about the Cowboys' O-Line. A dude on crutches could gain 100 yards rushing behind those guys! Barry had no help at all from his line. 2/17/2007 1:25:53 AM |

hahaha..is that really your defense? If Barry was given the same number of years in the league as Emmitt, his stats would probably be 1.5 X's what Emmitt's were.2/18/2007 12:59:12 PM |

If Barry hadn't of retired(quit) when he did, Emmit would be in 2nd place for career rushing yards. 2/18/2007 1:02:38 PM |

I always thought that barry retired because of long distance phone call charges and miscommunication that was blamed on the telecom industry....

of course, these are the same people that were saying that stats didnt matter for Manning and that Brady was better because he had the rings and could "win the big game", but when it comes to RB, rings didnt matter, Barry was better....inconsistant

actually its not inconsistant IMO because as has been stated, the RB doesn't run the offense. QB vs RB really isn't a viable argument. there's not really a "crunch time" argument for RB's like there is for QB's (manning/brady), because the RB only gets the ball when its handed to him. i'll jump in and say barry sanders was probably the greatest RB ever
