My friend was looking at Gorman Crossings as a place to stay next year; I was just curious if anyone had any comments about the place. She wants to know about what the place is really like; so be as brutal as you want. 2/22/2007 10:44:54 PM |

I love my actual apartment minus the ridiculous power bills when you use the AC or heat, and if you live on the office side of Gorman Street, hope you love roaches. 2/22/2007 10:48:35 PM |

Next time, you might want to rethink your wording.2/22/2007 10:56:33 PM |

My boyfriend lives there - and the place is functional, but crappy. The walls are paper thin and the heating and AC don't work well at all. He hasn't had any bug issues. He's in the townhouses part. The girls in the office seem pretty nice, but the owner gave him a really hard time when his roommate moved out due to a tour in Iraq. He was not willing to work with my boyfriend in paying rent or in finding a new roommate. Neighbors seem pretty quiet - lots of Indians or young families. 2/22/2007 10:59:31 PM |

i lived there in a 2 BR townhome for one year (May 05-06). its liveable, but for the money you'll be able to do better. that is, if you like living at a comfortable temperature. if you can handle no a/c or heat most of the year, you'll be fine.
we got in when the new management had just taken over, so our rent was real cheap. but after internet, cable and highass electricity bills we might as well have been living in a more expensive, nicer place. the insulation is shot - we rarely went upstairs during the day in the summer. the walls are thin as shit, you can hear the pipe rattle everytime your neighbor turns on the water. you'll know everytime your neighbor's baby wakes up in the middle of the night crying. if your neighbor cooks anything with a strong scent (fajitas, stir-fry, etc) your apt will smell of it too. oh and the neighborhood as a whole smells like a hot wok when its not a windy day.
the maintenance is alright, they don't fix things the first time out though. they send a guy to see whats wrong, then later that day or week they send someone who knows what they're doing. they'll figure out they don't have the right tools and come back a day or so later. they're friendly enough guys, just seem like they have too much shit to do (i think at the time there was only a handful of em).
the girls in the front office just do their job, and thats it. don't ever expect them to go above or beyond, or to work with you in any way. don't expect them there after 5 for that matter. fortunately we never had an off-hours emergency so i don't know how they handle that stuff.
pros: it was on the wolfline, and there's a lot of parking and space to toss a football. lots of windows made spring/fall days nice too.
for roughly the same $/month, i'm living in a much nicer place. don't think i'd move back to gorman crossings though. 2/22/2007 11:12:09 PM |

thanks for the outlook guys. Please keep posting and if anyone has any suggestions on where another good place would be, preferably on the wolfline, that would swell. 2/23/2007 9:14:18 AM |

yeah i lived there for a year, and compared to the place i live now it was the dumps. our electric bill was only really bad in the winter where it got up to like 200 bucks. it was pretty cheap rent for the price if you live in the 3 bedroom apartments. but granted the rent is cheap i was still spending close to three hundred if not more per month and where i live now (Gorman Street Vilage) is only 355 and a lot newer. granted there is not nearly as much parking and the walls are still thin, but at least there is a full size washer/dryer and new appliances. i never had any problem with trinity properties, just my roomies. 2/23/2007 9:51:25 AM |

They will let you pick out your exact aparment/townhome. We picked out a townhome that they were just about to renovate and had them put in hardwood floors, all new carpet upstairs, new linoleum in the kitchen and bathrooms, new countertops and new appliances. So you can get that stuff if its important to you. I really don't feel that I ever hear my neighbors except for when they are walking up and down the stairs. They have changed to a towing policy now, so don't let them tell you they don't tow (like they told us) They most certainly do as we found out the hard way. 2/23/2007 1:12:12 PM |
