Anyone have one?

I am about to buy one, maybe two if I can gather the money... by Thursday! One to keep, one to sell.

Anyone who has some cash lying around, I would highly recommend it. They have flexible payments plans, usually 3 or 5 or 7 year plans. And you can purchase from your computer, no need to travel. And they will even rent it out for ya, and when you are ready, resell it.

There is a reason by the likes of Tiger Woods and Beckham (and many other celebrties and sports people) buy houses there.

You can easily double your money in 4-5 years. And during that time, you could rent it out. So, you get more than 100% back in 4-5 years.

I will post here in a day or two to let you know how it goes.

(Trying to go for a promotion ending on Thursday: 12% off!!!)

You never fail with your immaturity and ignorance.

What does that have to do with this thread?

If you want to say something, say it. I didn't understand what you said through all the layers of sarcasm in there.

Another ignoramus. How about, it is not oil money to begin with?

Definitely buying one... making phone calls to secure funds for the other one.

treetwista,

1 - You know everybody on TWW.
2 - You know everybody's interest in investment.
3 - You couldn't think of one reason why I would think that people with jobs, some of them well-off, might be interested in investing in real estate.
4 - You think investing is chit chat material.

You need to have your head checked, because of your inflated ego (points 1,2) and your imbecility (points 3,4).

I am not going to respond to anything you say in here anymore.

pwskhrlskrfwder21934,

oh noes, what you should care about is that you made a stupid assumption about the economy of a country, and it was totally wrong.

as for being afraid... well, that's up to you. again, as i said, if there was any risk, hundreds of the rich and famous from around the world wouldn't be jumping on it (and profiting from it). if you are serious, do your own research, if you are not, drop it.

Quote :

read ^.

also, are you pointing to any particular incident, or just a perception? UAE is a very safe and secure country. not a single terrorist incident has taken place there, whereas bahrain, qatar, kuwait, and esp SA haven't been so lucky. true, it is a small country, and if a big country wanted to take over it, they couldn't defend themselves.

but i guess that's a risk for a lot of countries. anyway, if we are talking short term investment (3-5 years), nothing is about to happen in that time.

lol, you care way too much

it's funny

yeah, I assume that pretty much every country in that region gets most of it's riches from oil money

guess I'm wrong, it must be all the other commodities that the region produces right?

btw I've seen plans for what they're doing over there, it's nice... but I wonder what will happen when the region destabilizes completely

lines 1-2: and you don't care too much right? is that why you keep on responding?

lines 3-4: again, your stupid assumptions, in EACH line.

line 5: another stupid assumption? why does the region HAVE to destabilize?

whats the website?

costs?

sounds like its booming... but yeah.... it does sound like oil money

wiki

Real estate and property

The government's decision to diversify from a trade-based but oil-reliant economy to one that is service- and tourism-oriented has made real estate more valuable, resulting in the property boom from 2004-2006. Construction on a large scale has turned Dubai into one of the fastest growing cities in the world.

The property boom is largely driven by megaprojects- these are just some of many projects planned for Dubai.

Off-shore such as Palm Islands and The World.
The Emirates Towers of Dubai
The Emirates Towers of Dubai
The Jumeirah Palm island.
The Jumeirah Palm island.

Inland such as Dubai Marina, The Burj Dubai Complex, Dubai Waterfront, Business Bay and Dubailand.

*********************************************************************

someone asked for links. some of the hundreds of links are given below. these, i can tell you are real. some are for real estate agencies/resellers with listings of apartments for sale/rent, some new, some used. some are websites of developers and individual buildings offering new as of yet unbuilt apartments for booking:

http://realestate.theemiratesnetwork.com
http://www.investment-property-guide.com/countries.php?id=dubai
http://www.gowealthy.com
http://www.mincproperty.com
http://www.aquaproperties.ae
http://www.emaar.com (builders of the world's tallest building and the largest mall, both under construction)
http://www.nakheel.com (builders of the palm and the world islands)
http://www.damacproperties.com (builders of some other crazy projects)
http://www.chapalthedestiny.com
http://www.chapaltheglory.com (not in dubai, but in ajman, one of the other 7 emirates of UAE)
http://www.ajmanproperty.com (also in ajman)

so i did buy one. and so did my girl, and also my parents. my parents bought in dubai. i and my lady bought in ajman, as the ones in dubai are too expensive for me buy now. maybe i could have bought something 2-3 years ago in dubai.

anyway, mine is on the 30th story (and my girl's is next door to mine) of this 50-story building; details of my apartment and price and payment plan to come later:

The risk doesn't really seem worth the reward. Doubling your money in 4-5 years is great, but you could most likely double your money in several more years just investing in the stock market, maybe even sooner if the majority of your investments were in foreign equities. Personally, if I wanted to buy real estate for the sole purpose of investing, I'd probably go with a place in Florida.

of course dude... what rock have you been under for the past 5 years?! that's the most open arab country... heck only 20% of the population of dubai is natives. rest are expats, with huge numbers of white people (100,000), indians/pakis...

source?

i have read similar articles too, but then i have read countless articles which say the opposite.

there is no dearth of rich white people and rich asians and rich arabs in the world who would want to buy an apartment or a house there, whether as an investment, or to relocate, or to retire.

the things that in the planning stage are mond-boggling. click on that link above, from wikipedia. (make sure to go to edit post and copy paste it from there, or click on the tinyurl link)

I saw part of that NG special. I was confused on why they didn't figure out before they started construction that this HUGE NEW ISLAND was going to affect the currents. Personally, I think it's a bad move, but then again 20+ years ago people still thought it was a bad idea to build on Willoughby Spit (a giant sand bar near Norfolk created by a hurricane - the peninsula's big enough to be its own little city)

but back on topic ... good luck w/ your purchase

^ thanks.

paid a substantial portion today. (i opted for the 7-year payment plan; from here on now, it is easy monthly payments)

bank account down to $2,000

in case anybody is interested:

2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, 2 balconies

30th floor (at height of 37th floor, as first 7 floors is car parking)

1,100 sq ft.

$121,652 (would have cost about $100K if I had opted for the 3-year payment plan)
