Ive been testing backup software, mostly free ones, what i want is, no propriety backup format, scheduled backups, and network backup thats all and free is good
ive tried cobian, winbackup, ntbackup, and synchbackup, none of those do what i want

you may be able to find a licensed version of backup exec out there somewhere

check out rsync. it's a little difficult to use at first, but once you figure it out you'll never go to anything else. I use it all the time and it's been 100% reliable.
