and maybe even more!

and that's not all.

free furnished housing/utilities
ticket at beginning and end
medical insurance
some meals free

so basically that's money in your pocket. equivalent to a US-based salary of at least $120,000.

the job:

being a full-time tutor and mentor to children of the super-rich, you know, people who have several mansions on several continents.

http://tutors-international.com

some of them sound pretty exciting, with quite a bit of travel involved with the family to exotic and expensive places (of course, all paid for, which is an extra perk).

one of them, you would be a tutor on a yacht for a year! sail for a week to two weeks, be on land for 3-4 days, and then sail again, and repeat!

here are the current adverts:

http://tutors-international.com/for_tutors/adverts.php

i am definitely applying for some of them.

good luck!

p.s. i actually know some people who are currently doing this, and i can try to get you in touch with them if anybody wants.

How long is the commitment? I'd almost consider this for a few months before b-school!

I think my lack of foreign language speaking ability is a hindrance. I would be better if I had opportunity to practice my German. I also can't do physics, but can cover everything else. I love working with kids to make them excited about learning.

I'm bookmarking the site, however. If someone posts a position for say, 6-9 months so I'd be done next July...I'll quit my job and do this. It'd be awesome experience.

it can sound like whatever you want it to sound like.

if you had any clue about international teaching, and about the habit of some of the rich and the famous to hire full-time tutors for their children, you wouldn't be saying that.

Remember, at the end of the day you're just the hired help. Your ass better be invisible. These kinds of people aren't interested in your company.

i know you may make a lot of money, but aren't you at the beck and call of comeone else? i mean, part of what i like about my job is that i have most of the control over how things go. i don't want to be kevin kline to the shitty senator's son in "the emperor's club".

^ most of the time, no.

they are pretty honest with the job requirements. they tell you honestly if for example, there are no set times, or you might also work on weekends for whatever reason (travel, child has tennis tournament coming up, etc), etc.

How is that aspect different than any other job where you are working for an organization?

this sounds like a great thing to do for a year, you make money, travel, and meet people and see things you may otherwise never see.
