I adopted two kittens a few months ago to help out a friend. Now things have come up and I have to get rid of them. They are brothers, probably around 7 months old. Very cute and cuddly and friendly, but also playful. They would be good outdoor kitties (right now they are indoor cats). They aren't fixed and haven't had shots, but they have been checked for FIV and feline leukimia and were negative. They have also been treated for worms.

this is tony. he is the most laid back cat ever, except when he wants attention...then he will jump in your lap and not leave you alone until his head gets scratched. he has also never tried to scratch or bite me (not even playfully)

this is tony and jack. jack (left) is a really sweet cat. he was a runt and is still pretty small. he is very playful though.

i really love these kitties but the girl i am living with next year is allergic and i don't have any other option except to give them away

if anyone is interested message me on here

get them fixed and you'll be able to give them away a lot easier. Not sure if you're gonna want to spend the $ though. Otherwise nobody's gonna want them as an outdoor cat. Do they spray? I'm not sure how old they are before they start doing that.. just some food for thought. I'm going to pass this on to a friend of mine. Good luck!!

^That's a really good point. Eventually if not neutered male cats will spray, which is a nightmare.

My girlfriend would definitely take Tony if you get him fixed. Are you willing to part them out or do they have to stay together?

pochacco20: try to talk your girlfriend into taking them both! Two kittens are MUCH BETTER than one! They keep each other entertained. It's honestly better.

i would definitely be willing to get them fixed, i forgot to mention that in my first post, but i have been planning on doing that anyway. the only reason i haven't yet is because i was told they needed to be 6 months old.

i really hope this quote isnt directed to Laurel

its not like she could have known when she got the kitties that her new roommate would be allergic

wow, most of you folks need to work on reading comprehension

[Edited on March 22, 2007 at 2:30 PM. Reason : and she is a great mom to these kittens currently so stfu]

this is exactly why people in college shouldn't get pets. their lives are not stable enough to be making a LIFETIME commitment to a pet. if you're taking on a cat/dog/whatever, you need to be able to take care of it for the next 10-15-20 years depending on breed.

uh kittens can be fixed before 6 months. you really need to neuter males before their secondary sex characteristics (spraying, roaming etc..) kick in.
Some vets do it as early as 8 weeks old. I have always recommended waiting until they were finished with their kitten vaccines or at 12 weeks (3 months)

it is not like i went out and bought these two cats. they were found on the side of the road at 1 week old, there were four all together. their mom had gotten hit by a car and they needed 24/7 care to live. my best friend was looking after them but her roomates freaked out so i told her i'd take two of them off her hands (one had died and she gave the other one away also). they almost died but now they are healthy happy kitties and they need a good home.

thank you for taking them in.
If people would read your post then they'd get that ^

if you have no luck on here try craigslist or contacting local cat rescues.
bfpa, second chance, marleys cat tails, independant animal rescue, snowflake, CARE, etc..
if they have foster space they'll take em and then the cats will be fixed and utd on shots before being adopted.

thats what i'd do..

My girlfriend already has a cat (1 yr old) and she's looking for a companion for her, however, I don't think she wants three cats right now. I'll ask her anyway. We were planning on going to the SPCA this weekend (that's where she got her cat) but if she can adopt one that's already fixed and has its shots that would be a huge bonus. Anyway, I'll talk to her tonight. If you have any more pictures please post them. Thank you.

Why does it matter if it's declawed?

If treated properly they won't ever scratch you, and it's extremely easy to teach a cat to not destroy furniture (i've had several cats, and none have ever destroyed any furniture).

I really dont think that is true. Someone told me that, and when my cat was 6months old, she was already knocked up...and now I have 5 2wk old babies....Sooo, I'm pretty sure you can get them fixed a lot earlier.

And as far as declawing....I'm so against it. It's really inhumane. You actually mutilate the cats paws, cutting off their first "knuckle", it's not just a nail. There are other options such as "soft paws". look it up.

my parents had their indoor cat declawed. he insisted on scratching the furniture and walls even though we bought multiple scratching posts of different materials and placed them throughout the house (yes he was fixed). they tried keeping his nails trimmed, but let's just say he was always less than cooperative. they finally said screw it and had the laser declawing done. quite frankly, i would have done the same thing.
