ALEXANDRIA, Va (Reuters) - A federal judge said on Friday he would issue an injunction barring Vonage Holdings Corp. from using Internet phone call technology patented by Verizon Communications Inc., but delayed signing the order for two weeks.

Vonage shares fell sharply after the ruling, falling 16.8 percent, or 68 cents, to $3.37 in afternoon trading on the New York Stock Exchange.

i've yet to come up with a reason why my $30/year package from skype (plus $20 AR for actiontec USB/phone converter) is a bad idea

MOODY, do you actually USE voipyourlife? it looks pretty sketchy

i just signed up for voip.com http://www.voip.com/residential_voip_service.aspx last month. it's been great so far; the sound quality has been crisp. my parents are about to switch to it and my fiancee's parents are too.

if anyone is interested, PM me your First Name, Last Name, and Email Address (the one you'll use to setup an account) and i'll refer you (they'll give me 2 months free if you sign up and use your account for at least 90 days )

^^we have packet8 at work...great quality, but if you need support...THEY SUCK! i have a transcript somewhere where the guy said (online chat) "You need to call us to have that fixed"

I replied, "How can I call you if my phone isn't working?"

Then he said "Have a nice day." and signed off.

My boss was pissed and filed it with the BBB and called the dude's manager.

I still contend that all 3rd party VoIP providers' days are numbered. The economics just aren't compatible.

I second the unlimited skype usage. Never had anything but good service with it.

the parents do Vonage now at all their places and got rid of their conventional phone lines. They've had it for a couple of years now, and have had virtually no problems with the service, other than when their ISP would have issues. But even when that was, all missed calls went straight to their cell phones.

I'd hate to see Vonage go under.
