Re: Parking Fees

Dear Mr. Doucette,

Your vehicle tag number XXX-XXXX was parked in a state-owned visitor parking lot after the close of business on the dates listed below. North Carolina General Statute 143-340 requires all users to pay for visitor parking. A pay envelope was left on the vehicle on this date(s) listed and your tag number was recorded by our office:

12/02/2005

As of the date of this letter, we have not received payment for parking services for the above listed tag number. Failure to pay for parking services may result in this matter being turned over to the Attorney General's office for further collection action and your vehicle being restricted from parking in state-owned lots.

Effective August 1, 2006, parking fees are $1 per hour or any portion thereof; or a maximum of $8 per day. However, prior to that date, fees were $.50 per hour or any portion thereof; or a maximum of $4 per day. If you are unable to locate your ticket(s), the fee is $4 or $8 for a lost ticket, depending upon the dates of the tickets.

Please submit your payment by check or money order to the address listed below. Please include the payment envelope(s) and ticket(s) with the appropriate amount.

Sincerely,
[hand-signed manually w/ a ball-point pen]

State Parking Processing Clerk
919-807-2314"

Aside from the fact they're waiting 1 year and 4 months to contact me about $4 -- the fuckers cashed my check on 12/05/05...

You'll never become a Democrat because of inefficient government bureaucracy?

One word for you, my friend: Katrina.

I'm sure Easley and his democraticness personally oversaw this issue. I'm also sure if republican was the governor this would not of happened.

Threads like these show just how lame TSB has become.

Every discussion degenerates into some lame gay Dem vs GOP bullshit with 50% of the participants not having a clue what they are talking about.

Oh yea, I got it. Thanks for the heads up. It will be awhile before I get around to attending to any of that. Work and non-work life is pretty hectic these days.

yeah, that's pretty much why I worded the thread title the way I did -- it's the only way to get any replies in TSB. the original was along the lines of "another example of why bureaucracy pisses me off"

---

but seriously -- sending me a letter 1.2 years after the fact over -$4- ? (that I already paid)

the state just spent at least 2x that in terms of labor and supply costs alone...

What's more of a waste:

1) The state sending a letter requesting $4.

2) You taking the time to type up the whole letter with formating and bitch about it.

Wachovia has been sending me monthly statements for a 4$ account for over year.

I'm not going to relent and close the account unless they buy me out. I figure saving decades worth of stamps and processing costs has to be worth an amount that will make both of us happy.

Or your $4 account will stay open for centuries and due to interest will grow and grow until a time when the majority of the world's gdp is put into your account as interest.

You could be one of the greatest villains in history.
