I've been taking a daily multivitamin (B,C,D,E,iron, etc) over the last few weeks just as a preemptive attempt at a little more stable health. Anybody else? Any ideas or thoughts?] 3/29/2007 12:30:36 AM |

I take a multi-vitamin Centrum, Fish Oil, and Psyllium* (its supposed to be like fiber).
have no clue if they actually do anything but like mentioned before my diet sucks so...
My Dr. tried to sell me on this crazy expensive Vitamin that he beleived in and told me Centrum was "dog food" and a waste of money, anybody agree or disagree? 3/29/2007 7:21:38 AM |

most of the time taking vitamins results in OD'ing on the reccomended amount when added to diet, so they aren't always good... and more isn't 'better' if you have a decent diet (much of your crap food is 'fortified' now anyways) then you are getting most of your vitamins already. some vitamins don't absorb right or get used when they aren't in food with their other naturally associated components, one example is iron, eating red meat results in greater iron absorption over taking a pill with the same, or more iron in it. 3/29/2007 8:01:44 AM |

course the only difference in a number of multi-vitamins is the engraving or color of the pill

i take a children's vitamin - not flintstones tho, they taste awful. children's vitamins have pretty much the same thing as adult ones, but they're cheaper. i eat fruit, but avoid the veggies at all cost. i think the only thing your body can't produce by itself is B6, so make sure your vitamin has that.
drink lots of milk!! and soak up some vitamin D each day. 3/31/2007 10:56:45 AM |

it's best to get your "vitamin" needs from your food, since it's natural.
my power breakfast: trader joe's fiber wheat bread (6g fiber) smeared with natural peanut butter (i prefer the taste/texture over the jiffy crap). a cup of skim milk, and half cup of orange juice.
fiber keeps my pooh firm, and helps stave off colon cancer. i have about 2 cups of milk each day for bones. banana is a power fruit - get your potassium!! 3/31/2007 11:02:26 AM |

vitamins can't be produced by the body.
that's why they need to be in the diet.
think about it logically, if they could be produced in the body, there would be no fuss about vitamins... and THAT'S how they were discovered, because people not getting certain vitamins were developing DEFICIENCY DISEASES.
the ONLY vitamin the body can produce is vitamin K, by the bacteria in the stomach. even that, only if the good bacteria are there. if you are sick, have been taking anitbiotics, or generally eat shit food, you don't have too many good bacteria in your intestines.3/31/2007 1:09:27 PM |
