While the NCAA recognizes the OHL, WHL, and QMJHL as professional leagues, it's purely to prevent players from jumping from college to junior or vice versa. No one else in the world considers them pro leagues.

While Mr. Met the human mascot appeared well before Mr. Red, Mr. Red the mascot made his first appearance in the form of a patch on the sleeve of the Reds uniform in 1955. Mr. Red the human mascot first appeared in the early 1980s. Mr. Met first appeared on programs in 1963, and became a human mascot in 1964. So saying that Mr. Red is a Mr. Met knockoff is a fallacy. You should take consolation in knowing that Mr. Met was the first live mascot in the Major Leagues.

lol yes true but when the franchise first came to town and pictures of the mascot surfaced, we all tried to guess/suggest names...foghat was one of the suggestions and it kind of stuck
