I'm taking it first session. If you need it for your major, i'm not sure how it could be a bad idea.If you don't, from what I've heard it's a pretty easy class and somewhat enjoyable, especially if you enjoy designing things...EDIT: Also pretty sure there aren't laptop classes during summer. Someone correct me if I'm wrong...[Edited on April 12, 2007 at 9:08 PM. Reason : .]

you'll be using Solidworks (basically a 3D version of CAD, but way more capable) all the time to develop your final project..........but this was with Newby, but i imagine the overall course should be very similartests are bullshit, focus you time on the computer project(s)i loved the class, but i have a creative sort-of mind......i have a friend who is a PRT major who hated it and dropped it[Edited on April 12, 2007 at 9:13 PM. sit in the back of class and bring something else to do.You're going to blow your fuckin brains out from him basically repeating the same point every class. He's an extremely nice guy and all but damn, there's only so much a person can take. Esp for that amt of time each day. You do the solidworks in roughly 1/10 of the classes in a computer lab, maybe like 5 solidworks assignments at most, the rest are easy design/nomenclature/drafting lectures. The project was easy as all ye, basically incorporates an assembly you bring in, draw in drafting specs, and then backwards engineer in solidworks. The midterm is on the lectures, and I dont think really counts much.

did you really need to type all that after the picture above?

What's your major? If you're CE, talk to Dr. Parish about taking the AutoCAD class, GC496e I think. You may be able to get it to take care of that requirement for you, and it will be much more usefull.

I have Freeman right now. Like Chief said, he's a hell of a nice guy but he talks FOREVER. I just do the crossword during the lectures. SolidWorks was very frustrating at first but once you get the hang of it it isn't too bad.And get ready to hear "Are we communicating?" about 50 times a class.

I took it with freeman a few years ago. The beginning was like taking kindergarten all over again. Learning to write letters and draw shapes. The final project was fun though.
