These adorable bunnies were surrendered by their owner who just had too many Easter bunnies! Luckily these 4 (see photo gallery for more pictures), along with about 19 others were rescued by Bunny Matters in Raleigh, NC and placed into foster homes. The three babies are about 5 weeks old and the adult is about 6 months - all girls! To be considered for adopting a Bunny Matters bunny, you are asked to do the following:

1. Complete a Bunny Matters Pre Adoption Application (email kimberly1210@gmail.com)
2. Speak with a Bunny Matters Rep
3. Provide a referance from your CURRENT veteranarian on your vet's letterhead.
4. Complete a home visit/ play date with the bunny(s) of interest.
5. If renting, a verbal or written letter of consent from your landlord, stating that house rabbits are permitted, will be requested PRIOR to the completion of an adoption.
6. Signed adoption contract agreement with Bunny Matters.
7. Be available for a one month, 30 minute, follow up visit after your adoption is final.

Haha, no we don't need to go that far. The point is that bunny adoptions are just as involved as a dog or a cat because bunnies need just as much care, thought, attention, etc.

These are domesticated rabbits, not wild rabbits. They are the Dutch breed. I just posted some more pictures in my gallery!

I know rabbits shit a lot, thats not what I was asking.

I just want to know if one would be a good pet for a 5 year old (of course an adult would take care of it).

^no, people make the mistake of getting rabbits for children because they are cute and cuddly-looking. they require mass amounts of attention, but don't tolerate children well. Rabbits are high stress animals (especially small ones) and may be scared/stressed by children.

Some rabbits do like to be held - the babies are all comfortable with being picked up however children tend to grab and squeeze which will cause your bunny to hate being picked up. Rabbits tend to be better pets for adults but if your child is calm and will wait for the bunny to come to him/her that could be fine.

There may be some adoption fee, but we will consider a reduced fee or donation instead. These bunnies will have to be spayed which can be a few hundred dollars unless you go through the rescue foundation.

The bunnies are actually all peeing in the litterbox! They do leave poops around sometimes but they are dry so you just sweep them up. We're working on 100% litterbox training.
