Did you take the general or civil specific during the afternoon session at the FE? How'd you do?
I know they're telling us to take the general, but I just can't see taking it over the civil specific. 4/16/2007 6:58:25 PM |

Have you had environmental engineering? If you haven't I would not recommend taking the civil exam I heard theres a lot of environmental on it. I took the general because I thought I did well on the general in the morning. I passed so I guess that was the right choice.
Get the breakdown of whats on the civil test and see if you feel comfortable taking it. I had not had structures or environmental at the time so I did not think I would do so well on the exam. 4/16/2007 7:58:53 PM |

I took the civil and remember a lot of soils, environmental, and transportation stuff. There also was a little bit of structures and concrete. I hadn't taken soils or environmental at that time and still passed. 4/16/2007 8:18:42 PM |

If you have had/are taking at least 3 of the following 5 classes you should be kosher to take the Cvil:
CE373 - Environmental. CE342 - Soils. CE305 - Traffic. the Surveying Class. CE325 - Matrix analysis. 4/16/2007 8:37:50 PM |

i took the general, but i took a bunch of extra math and graduate level structures courses instead of generalizing my undergrad degree, so I found the general to be extraordinarily easy, however, i took 4 of those classes as well, so i guess it really doesnt matter 4/17/2007 8:48:58 AM |

I took the civil specific. There was alot of surveying and hydrology with some environmental and transportation questions mostly. Not nearly as much structural and materials questions I thought would be on there. I hadnt had ANY environmental classes so wasnt really too sure on that , plus the surveying questions were hard as shit! (for surveying anyway). With all that said though I passed. I didnt take the general mostly due to the fact that i hadnt had circuits and didnt remember anything from thermo. 4/19/2007 9:25:34 AM |

The general had some bio/circuits/more thermo and stuff on it that I knew I'd have no idea about so I went with straight civil. I hadn't taken any environmental/survey/construction management courses but was able to just plug and chug for most of those question and get something I thought was right.
If I had to do it again (I don't), I'd go with civil again though. 4/19/2007 10:37:22 AM |
