$100,000 for wearing a VitaminWater hat during the superbowl media day. Gatorade is the official sponser of the NFL so he's not allowed to wear it. Sounds like a bunch of bullshit if you ask me

He probably got paid way over $100k to do that, so I don't feel bad for him. He knew full well what the penalty was. 4/18/2007 6:57:19 PM |

The NFL guards its image very carefully and takes its contracts with sponsors/official partners very seriously. Players and the Union know the rules and requirements. No sympathy for Urlacher. 4/18/2007 7:16:07 PM |

the NFL probably found out he got paid something like $50K to wear it and fined him accordingly 4/18/2007 10:21:17 PM |

Now, with the fine, they have gotten TONS more pub than they did by him just wearing the hat. They most likely intended for this to happen. Great marketing idea if they did. 4/19/2007 2:32:50 AM |

he had the hat and a bottle of the actual water on the stand. i'm sure he was paid for this, knowing he was going to get fined. 4/19/2007 7:10:32 AM |

$100K I thought is a little excessive. However he's a big boy and knew he was going to get fined. But I doubt he thought that much unless the NFL found out how much they paid him.

I'm going to go to the corner store and buy some vitaminwater now, just because of this fine. When I am finished I will buy some gold & black adidas cleats for flag football. 4/20/2007 5:33:13 PM |
