Yes, there are other Charleston threads, but they were too old to get going again.

I'm looking to rent a house/townhouse in the area... pref. on one of the close islands. I only found one listing for James Island on http://www.vrbo.com and it seemed to be the closest to downtown so I was really surprised to not see more... that site is where I get most of our vacation homes from.

Anyone know of any good places to stay close to the beach but not too far from town?

I don't have any help with vacation spots - sorry. West Ashley is pretty nice, and it's right across the bridge to downtown and the beach, so that might be another area to look.

I will be in school in Charleston starting in August and I am looking for a place to rent for the year if anyone knows of anything good.
