my girl has a inspiron 600m that has an insatiable need to kill hdd's.
they last about 2 weeks, and then one bsod later it says unmountable boot volume,
test the drive with an external case, no love.
had the power supply jack(computer side) replaced at one point by a guy that does great work,
a while ago - dunno what to do...don't really have teh money for a new lappy right now, but
I do have a standby desktop she has used in the past, so it's not life or death to fix it right away.

any ideas what is killing these drives? they aint cheap!

thanks all,
Ben

I've noticed this kind of thing too. At the bookstore about 80% of our hard drive replacements are the same 5 people over and over...

I'm on our 3rd HDD with our 600m. I think heat disapation may have contributed to early failure, but I doubt that is your problem since it is so fast.

It's probably people jogging with their laptops.

hdd is recieving same voltage as before - that was not altered - environment is my home office - no pets allowed, and it always sits on a hard surface, so it's not over heating...i dunno.
anyone wanna buy it and mess with it?

Ghosts. They're getting ectoplasm in your computer and it's gumming up the works.
