For me it's when they know I need documents physically, but instead of emailing me the original document and adding notes in the email, they will print the document and bring it to me with notes so I have to rescan it.

Also, I'm trying to find a gentle way to tell the HR chick that she can rotate pages in Adobe so I don't get sideways pages every month.

She's an HR chick, you should be glad she isn't hand writing it (with bubble letters and/or hearts instead of dots on her i) and bringing it to you.

"No, I cannot help you. Goodbye."

I'm looking forward to all of the shit offshore has thrown into our product over the last two weeks while all the US employees have been on vacation...

Yeah, it would be nice to be able to say that, but it's almost always something for my building so it's usually more like, "I can't help you with that, try (other manager)"

just went back a page and reread the beer at work debate and I read this from neodata

Quote :
"If one person keeps buying the same beer every time because no one steps up it's everyone's fault. "

so you're it's YOUR fault that there is shitty free beer in your work fridge? don't you realize by not stepping up and selecting a more better beer you are promoting a poor work culture?

lol I think this was way funnier to me than it should have been

haha true

Also I fucked up in my post, I meant I need the documents electronically. Not that it matters. TWW isn't real life.

last month a client asks if i would be interested in consulting on some of their projects at a facility in another state. sure, sounds great, it would potentially be a lot of new business.

we tentatively setup a meeting for yesterday (1/17)

1/4: send email to check if the meeting is confirmed so we can have the office make travel arrangements. no reply.
1/9: email again to check if the meeting is confirmed so we can make travel arrangements. no reply.
1/10: call twice. leave voicemail to say that i haven't received anything about the meeting and don't know if we are still on. no reply.
1/12: call & email again. no reply.
1/13: call & email. Tell them that we have other meetings booking up and that if they would like to meet Tuesday I need to know today so I can make arrangements.
Yesterday, the day we were supposed to meet: send email saying something like "yadda yadda yadda it sounds like you don't need us for this project, but if you have any future projects please feel free to reach out, we would be happy to help yadda yadda yadda"

Then they called back and were like: "oh, we had 15 people in the conference room waiting for you. we were wondering where you were"
"oh, well i apologize but we hadn't heard back about the meeting"
"we sent a meeting invite"
"was anyone here included on the invite"
"um... no"

wtf

I had a coworker who seemed to be only happy when intimidating someone or making a joke at someone else's expense (some of the women would be crying after his shit)

he was very good at his job, or they wouldn't put up with his shit

anyways, I finally pulled one over on him, and made him look really stupid, everyone had a laugh, but he went THE FUCK OFF, I mean total meltdown

what little respect anyone did have for him went bye bye right then, he transferred shortly thereafter

if you cant take it, don't dish it out

My project manager can respond/correspond via e-mail rather than find an excuse to come down just about every other day. I don't even need to communicate with him that often and usually he just pops up unannounced.

I wish people would be honest on conference calls and rather than say "Sorry, I was multitasking," just say "sorry, I wasn't paying attention."

my Mom had to fire one of her managerial employees (she's an HR director / exec) because the guy came in reeking of alcohol and slurring during a meeting. he denied it so they told him they would test him and he said "that's fine I'm golden" so they took him to get tested and he blew a .18 so they told him he was fired and drove him home. they had to call him back on Sunday to make sure he remembered being fired and that he would be charged with trespassing if he came back on the property. after all of that, he had still planned on coming in.

Woman near me puts on headphones and sings along. I go over and tell her she's singing out loud, and to please stop.

"Oh, I didn't realize I was doing that. I'm sorry."

5 minutes later, starts up again. I go back over and repeat the process.

This happens at least once a week.

Look, man, I don't know what's wrong with you, but whatever is causing you to have to loudly clear your throat every 30 fucking seconds is something you should probably get checked out. Either that, or you should slit your wrists so you'll stop annoying the piss out of everyone within 30 feet who has to hear your inconsiderateness. Srsly

my intern* will email me, then hit me up on instant messager "hey did you see that email?", and if I don't respond to that, will come to my office "Hey I did that thing in the email that I said I did"

All within a span of about 2 mins. He'll send the IM seconds after I receive the email.

*not an intern in the strict sense of the word. He's actually a temp contractor from India.

I check my email maybe four times a day. Best thing I ever did when it comes to work email was set up a rule in Outlook to filter anything I'm just copied on to a separate folder.

I basically check every message as soon as I get it.
I'm sort of used to it though so it rarely slows me down.

Being self-employed, I work from home... so no complaints about co-workers, but goddamn I get tired of dealing with email luddites who don't understand accepted email communication.

Don't send me a fucking email with a blank subject.

Don't send me a fucking email with a scanned Word document asking me to add this content to their website.

I have clients who will type up a damn letter in Word, print it, take a picture, and email me. When I ask why they didn't email the Word doc, they reply that they didn't save it.

FUCK YOU.

^ha, reminds me of a guy that does the same thing as me for my company but in a different state. Whenever he gets an error he has a question about, he takes a screenshot, physically prints out the screenshot, scans it (which always comes out sideways), and then emails the scan

^ That's the worst! We have a lady who pops her popcorn on the same setting every single day, and it burns every time. You'd think she'd learn to set it on a lower time, but no.

In other news, I get told on a regular basis that I don't deserve my salary and that I get away with things I shouldn't, including "leaving early" when my schedule was officially altered to be that way, and I always work at least 40 hours. Also in this latest conversation was the point that I am a "golden child" who takes advantage of our boss. Everything I do is with permission from our boss.

That's disgusting.

I have a client with a pretty bad injury and her daughter will drop off documents and medical records at the office. They always smell like an ashtray and it stinks up the entire office. I told the daughter that she can scan and email the documents from now on.

A couple months ago they moved my team into a room adjacent to the one we were in. This does not completely solve the packing tape problem since the 2 site support guys also moved with us, but it mitigates it as they now tape up boxes at the other end of the room.

But that's not the complaint. My desk is a cube, with walls to the floor on three sides. One side is adjacent to another wall, which is made up of glass panes and metal dividers. When the A/C system comes on, after a few minutes, the metal divider inevitably starts rattling quietly but insistently. And, because of the solid cube wall between me and it, I have to get up, reach over the cube wall, and press on the divider to get it to stop rattling. Fucking annoying. Then it starts ratting again about 10 minutes later. After 2 or 3 rounds, cue RAGE.
