So I started putting these on some the pages on my site last wednesday or thursday and I'm trying to decide if the shit is worth leaving up to see if it catches steam...Anyone else use it? How many hits do you think I'd need a day to actually see money? 5/10/2007 7:34:06 PM |

I read somewhere that the dude who owns digg.com makes like $300k / month on Adsense alone
I put a couple ads on my site but I don't update the content very often, so I don't really drive any traffic to my site. I've made like $.60 on it in 3 months or something stupid like that. 5/11/2007 12:08:21 PM |

Very little. Most of the money comes from actual clicks, which in my case happens to work out to around $5/1000 views. If I targeted my keywords better, I might could increase that. 5/12/2007 6:04:16 PM |

I met this guy in New York, he's made some money off it:
I'm using GoogleAds on one site but am trying out AuctionAds on another. So far it's alright.
I don't recommend AdBrite, it put up a lot of irrelevant mess. 5/21/2007 3:27:24 PM |

I found adwords to be a waste of time for me. Its not worth it to get traffic from adwords unless you plan to spend lots of time focusing on converting a very large portion of those clicks to sales on your website.
Good option for sites with high priced items / ecommerce sites.
Social service sites though dont do so well with paying for clicks. They do better with just creating content and buying links from other sites to 'up' their rating on google.
I get 350-650 visitors straight from google every day because I focused on my search ranking, not my advertising strategies.
350-650 visitors in my category would have cost me roughly $400-$1000 per day if I had recieved them all from adwords. I didnt even spend that much in all of last year for SEO services or content creation. 5/22/2007 10:12:55 AM |

These are expert opinions based on the many many rumors that are out there regarding SEO.
Buying links and submitting your site to relevant web directories is probably the first thing you should do.
I charge for a website review / SEO campaign, because it really takes alot of effort to start a good campaign that will deliver results, but that link above will get you started.
Also, pick some keywords that are relevant to your site, but not super obvious, like "apartments".
Pick something that is 3-5 words long, but probably common enough to deliver results for you.

yeah, at my work that's what we are doing and changing our who online marketing effort because of it. The real big ticket item with page ranking is with the relationship or links between you and another website, not just one way. Also the kind of website being linked is also important, such as being linked from a major .edu site or a news organization. key words and phrases that are repeated throughout the website, not just on one page (too much repetition can actually lower your ranking).
What webcrawlers now days are really focused on quality info (and their algorithm changes daily and is kept a secret). Educational info or websites are a big hit for page ranking. Even on product pages, having information of what the product can do and help people is 10x better then just having specs. They generally try to keep websites with an ecommerce page on it off the search term (like searching for a specific product, you generally get info on the product rather than links to pages that have the product specs + a way to buy it directly such as the "add to shopping cart").
Updating and added quality info daily adds to your ranking. Having constant press-releases on multiple news sites + updating your site with your news will help you out. The big thing now is companies are creating an additional website (or more than one) that offers educational information only or any type of other information other than company products & services (such as community service). Sometimes, they won't even say what company that's running the site. 5/22/2007 1:07:34 PM |

I hear people saying $5 per thousand pageviews. Do you mean unique visitors or just pageviews? I might throw it on a website I have that doesn't get a huge number of unique visitors (hundred a day maybe?) but pageviews per visitor is somewhat high (8-10 per visitor). If it's $5 per thousand unique visitors on average then it wouldn't really be worth my while but $5 per thousand pageviews would atleast be beer money. 6/5/2007 3:10:29 PM |

if its the same 100 visitors everyday, then you probably wont get that much. I have about 16000 unique visitors every month right now, translating into about $7 per 1000 Pageviews(last months stats)....
You can generally expect between 4-8 bucks per 1000 PAGEVIEWS. 6/5/2007 10:12:32 PM |

you can choose to dissallow specific websites from advertising on your site.
But, thats the downside to using adsense. If you are worried, start using it somewhere where it would show up after the user has made it through your site (known as a conversion) where they have either bought something or have browsed to the end of a section, assuming they have exhausted the information available regarding what they are looking for. 6/6/2007 12:21:40 PM |

Yesterday, I signed up with Adwords through Google. Today, I signed up with Yahoo's sponsored search.
The Google interface was very easy to work with and took about 10 minutes. It is pending bank verification and will go live after. My avg. CPC is .08.
I signed up for the Yahoo sponsored search because I of their $100.00 credit. It was a fucking pain in the ass compared to Google. I was given no indication as to when the listings will go live, it justs says pending review. Yahoo's min. bid is .10, but there's also a seperate Ad Group bid that goes up to $5.00. WTF is this??? BTW, my Yahoo acct. does not have the $100.00 credit, I figure I have to put in that much to get the credit, I guess.
Short Story- Yahoo sucks 6/6/2007 1:59:12 PM |
