just recently created a user account (basic) on there. Wonder if anyone has any hands on experience with them. I found out about this site through Noen not sure if he's used it in the past though.

^eLance doesn't have product design.

Mark we are giving it a trial run ourselves. So far I like it pretty well. Most of the jobs I've seen are for reasonable amounts and the whole site seems very US production friendly.

The little I've heard about the site from my peers has been good. They do take 5%, but so does any good salesman. I'll post to this thread once we've gone through the whole safepay escrow crap and let you know how it all panned out.

awesome, thanks man. I just realized that you can't have more than one basic profile active at a time, which sucks. So i'm either looking for graphic design jobs or web design jobs...but not both at the same time unless I pay for a guru account. If i see its working pretty well then i'll probably upgrade one of my profiles to guru status. So far i've placed 3 bids on a few design jobs. I'm guessing you get 10 bids a month as a basic user.

i think there should be a

tutoring/teaching/mentoring/coaching

category as well.

for example, if you want to learn some skill, or some advanced scientific concepts, but don't want to enroll in some academy or community college, you could hire a private tutor to teach you.

^you can post those on Craigslist and do well. I have a few friends who do just that on the side for various professions.

^^^We are actually going to do a full membership for a Quarter and see how it goes. A hundred bucks is worth it to be able to bid on a lot of projects and raise your submission placement, not to mention being able to have multiple profiles and lowering that % fee they take

^^I'm not actually really freelancing anymore, finally have a legitimate business.

^do you have to pay for each group or is it $100 quarterly for as many sub-categories as you want? From what I understood, each sub-category was a separate fee.

hmm good question. I thought as long as you were an upgraded member you could create basic profiles for multiple categories (aka just have one premium category but multiple basics). That's what we are shooting for anyway

yeah, i think each is an individual profile with individual costs. So if i upgrade one profile to guru, i can have that and one basic active at the same time. But i'd still be limited to 10 bids on one profile.

I have found that web design jobs tend to have guru/vendor restrictions to bid on them so its pretty useless having a basic account for that, but graphic design jobs have tons available for basic users to bid on.
