Just wondering if anyone know of diagnostics program or something that could tell me why my computer is beeping at me. I'm not sure if its because I installed new memory, or if its my video card since I accidentally uninstalled it once (but then I got the updated version of it). Beeping usually happens when I'm playing WoW.

1.) Check the bios for temperature alarms.
2.) Open the case and point a window fan at it. Turbocharge that motherfucker. I kept an Athlon 700 running for 5 years that way.

yeah, I did that for a while on my old P4 that was seriously OC'ed. I took the side cover off and was the perfect size for a window fan. Duct taped it right on. People thought it was weird at LAN parties. :p

What system do you have? Motherboard and video card specifically. Did you install a motherboard monitoring tool that came with your motherboard or is this a OEM system (pre-built by Dell, HP, etc...) Beeping is definitely due to overheating. Just need to figure out if it's because of your CPU, GPU, or chipset. Most likely it's the GPU or CPU.

Open up the computer and see how well the wires are routed. I would assume that you use fans to cool your pc down since if you had a water-cooling rig, you'd know how to fix the problem in the 1st place. Rat's nest of wires can block airflow and degrade the performance of the cooling effect from heatsinks. Either try to move them out of the way or use zip ties to make them take up less space. Clean your PC as well as dust can build up very fast specially since fans suck air in. Dust likes to get into the fins of heatsinks. Usually you'd want to clean it out every 3-6 months, but once a year is fine.

Are you overclocking your PC at all or using high performance parts?

I don't think I'm overclocking anything.... I don't know how. But I took the side off and put a small fan in front of it, and its not beeping any more, lol. I wonder why its doing it now? Could an extra half-gig of RAM make a difference? I've had this machine for about 4 years now.
