Im sick of it, its apparantly its so complicated and expensive to maintain and you need some kind of chemical degree to keep it up. So fuck it, lets have a cook out at my place and cut it up with sawzalls. Who's in? 5/21/2007 8:56:25 PM |

it's a 76. 318 with a 3 speed on the column. i've done some body damage to it, but it's pretty solid otherwise. it's in dire need of floorpans. i don't want to sell it, but everything is for sale for the right price. 5/22/2007 9:00:55 AM |

^^^^ yeah, i'm the same way...everything i have is for sale.
that's not the kind of motivated seller i look for, though.
and i really don't want a 3 on the tree for a daily driver (although i've never driven a mopar with that setup, i know i'd never want to drive the 3 on the tree chevys i've driven as DDs. fucking non synchro having, always wanting to get hung up between 1st and 2nd gear if you shift too quickly, pain in the ass bastards)

damn it, that was meant for classifieds...
anyway, this thing definitely isn't dd material. it's a cool weekend around driver at best, maybe an occasional beach trip or something. i don;t even have a top for it.
the mopar 3 speeds are superior to the gm/ford models. for some reason they don't seem to wear out nearly as quick causing linkage binding, and they aren't confused by powershifts.5/22/2007 10:40:50 AM |

the muriatic acid is to lower pH (the bleach will raise it), although if you have lots of greased up sweaty bathers you will probably have to keep your pH up. ive never used borax, soda ash is generally used to raise pH. you want a pH of 7.4-8.2 in a hot tub and at least 3 or 4 ppm chlorine. you can get a little floating chlorine feeder or just drop in an ounce of granular chlorine as required. (or use bleach)
your alkalinity is what keeps your pH from jumping all around, you want an alkalinity of around 100 and you get this by adding baking soda.
per 10k gallons: raise total alkalinity 10ppm use 1.5 lbs baking soda increase pH .4 use 8oz soda ash decrease pH .4 use 16fl oz muriatic acid
and i wouldnt use any stabilizer, just check your chlorine level often. stabilizer prevents the sun from burning off the chlorine but if you dont know what you are doing you run the risk of using too much then all of your chlorine is combined chlorine and not free available chlorine so it looks like you have a lot of chlorine in your tub but its not actually doing anything and all kinds of nasty shit is growing in your water.
drain the tub when the water starts to get cloudy from dissolved solids. if you head over to a pool supply company they will give you everything you need.4
let me know if you have any problems, my billing rate is $70/hour

if you dont mind spending a little money to do it right, bromine is the way to go. its effective over a larger temperature range, it is effective as combined bromine, and it stays around. bromine is the standard for maintaining hot tubs and spas. 5/28/2007 6:50:05 PM |
