Who you have so far?
I'll do the NL b/c I haven't really paid much attention to the AL outside of C Posada, 1B Ortiz, SS Jeter, 3B ARod.
NL
C Brian McCann - despite his cold stretch 1B Prince Fielder 2B Orlando Hudson SS Jose Reyes 3B Chipper Jones - though it will undoubtedly be Wright thanks to star power LF Barry Bonds CF Carlos Beltran RF Matt Holliday
SP Tim Hudson - bad last start not withstanding 5/22/2007 2:56:26 PM |

I'm personally of the opinion that all-star teams should be selected on the basis of more than just the first 6 weeks of the season. As you'll see, I have Pujols in my lineup, despite the fact that he's having (for him) on off year so far.
NL
C- McCann 1B- Pujols (you'd still take him in your lineup over anyone else) 2B- Utley SS- Reyes 3B- C. Jones LF- Carlos Lee CF- Beltran (I'm an Andruw Jones fan, but damn, even I can't put him in the lineup this year) RF- Jeff Francoeur
SP- Peavy

My vote:
NL
C Brian McCann (Russell Martin better make the team too - he is becoming a star) 1B Derrek Lee (394 avg and similar stats to Fielder other than HRs) 2B Chase Utley (overall production greater than O-dog's) SS Jose Reyes (Hardy is playing awesome, but Reyes is the best player in the NL) 3B Chipper Jones (although Aramis is playing great too) LF Carlos Lee (I hate Bonds) CF Carlos Beltran RF Matt Holliday (easy pick)
SP Jake Peavy - 1.64 ERA. I like Hudson, but I want the NL to win so I am taking the most dominant pitcher to start.
AL
C Victor Martinez (very good stats all over and Mauer is hurt) 1B Ortiz even though he's not really a 1B (I hope Youkilis makes the team as a backup) 2B BJ Upton SS Jeter 3B A-Rod LF Magglio Ordonez CF Torii Hunter (Sizemore if not Hunter) RF Vlad Guerrero
SP John Lackey - dude deserves some props, but Haren would be a good selection too. Watch out for James Shields.
V No I value ERA over all else. Beckett has been great this year, but if he didn't play for the Red Sox, he wouldn't have such an awesome Win-Loss record. I realize the Beckett will be the starter though assuming he is healthy. He just would not be my choice.
[Edited on May 22, 2007 at 4:45 PM. Reason : V Posada would make too many Yankees - this team doesn't deserve three starters] 5/22/2007 4:33:18 PM |

Hunter has better stats than Sizemore this season and should get the nod at center for the AL. However, Grady is a leadoff hitter and therefore at a statistical disadvantage. For example:
Runs: Grady 36 Torii 28
OBP% Grady .391 Torii .353
SB Grady 15 Torii 8
BB Grady 27 Torii 8
All these are key stats for a leadoff man to have. He isnt going to kill people in slugging, HRs and batting average because he is getting driven in most of the time. Torii bats in the heart of the order where it is easier to compile these stats because pitchers cant work around you and there are guys on base. One could arguably say that Grady is doing his job better considering where he is in the lineup.

Here are the updated NL Votes
C Russell Martin ---> good choice over Lo Duca 1B Albert Pujols ---> anyone but Prince Fielder is a shame 2B Chase Utley \ SS Jose Reyes / ---> both of these are no brainers 3B David Wright ---> Miggy should be the choice but screw that fat fucking tub of shit. If he doesn't want to actually show like he gives a shit about the game like last year in the 9th inning he doesn't deserve to play.... plus Wright really picked it up to make this at least respectable. OF Alfonso Soriano ---> Should be Holliday OF Carlos Beltran \ OF Ken Griffey, Jr. / ---> both of these are questionable. Gotta have Carlos Lee in there somewhere..

^ none of those are horrible choices though other than Soriano over Holliday. Plus I think that with that lineup, the NL could have a shot at actually winning. A lot of good balanced players with speed in that group. Thank God that Bonds isn't included.

^can u really say pujols over prince fielder right now though??? Fielder is a no doubter at first base, and if pujols wins it over him, its a sham 6/12/2007 5:52:18 PM |
