opens at 8, get there at like 7:55 and you'll be one of the first 10 people in line. in and out by 8:30 (if you're just getting a license renewed, anyway).

That is odd. Would think they would have that on there

[Edited on May 22, 2007 at 10:50 PM. Reason : I think the one over by Northern tool is much better (faster)]

I lost my license... so I just have to get a new one. Hopefully that won't take long?

Just get it online for a duplicate if you lost it.

Avent Ferry is the fastest DMV office I've ever been in. I swear I was in and out of there in less than ten minutes--in the afternoon. Maybe I caught them on a slow day, but I was with somebody else another time and it was just as fast. FYI.

You can also make an appointment (so you can avoid the line), or if you have to just get a replacement you can do that online:

https://edmv-ddl.dot.state.nc.us/DuplicateDriverLicense/Home

If your license was one of the "bad batch" from 2005 that's faded prematurely, you can get a free one--but for that you have to go down there in person.

So if you get it online I assume you'll have to wait for it to come in the mail - which means driving around with no license for several days. If you just show up at the DMV you can drive away with one.

Yeah. I'd go in person. Not to mention that if you lost your license you probably don't know know enough info to make it past step 1.
