A Friend of mine DVR'd an episode of the Price Is Right where you could see me in the audience. She said she would get it for me onto a dvd, but has no clue how to do it, neither do I. Could you guys give some guidance on how to move it to the computer. 5/24/2007 8:25:40 PM |

Get a TV tuner card on your computer. Put the output of cable wire from the DVR and put it into the input of the tuner card. Record the incoming transmission using software that comes with the TV card. 5/24/2007 8:30:13 PM |

Wow [old] but yeah, can't copy it over and use it. With most DVRs, the shows are saved on the drive with some form of encryption linked back to that particular box. If you get a new box and try to swap drives, it won't work.
Recording it into a PC via capture card is the way to go. 3/23/2010 12:06:38 AM |

This seems like the best source of information I've seen if you are using a SA8300HD box from TWC.

Sounds like people are having some success using the firewire port on the back of the dvr with 32 bit versions of windows -- if you are running vista x64 or Win7 X64 you are probably out of luck.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Easiest solution is to get a good Hauppauge card for your laptop/desktop and go that route though. 3/23/2010 8:49:05 AM |
