This game looks like it will be the fuckin' heat. I'll definitely have to pick this up when it comes out.
Does anybody know the name of the song in that trailer? 5/25/2007 3:24:34 AM |

Shouldn't be a problem if they keep all the cut scenes in engine. 5/25/2007 11:55:09 AM |

This looks like Hitman meets Prince of Persia, a winning combination imo. If this game sucks, I will be extremely surprised.

My question is: Why would an assassin do all of this during the middle of the day? 5/25/2007 1:56:16 PM |
AndyMac All American 31922 Posts user info edit post |
I guess to get to the target when he's most exposed. There are probably day and night missions, the day ones are easier to show off the graphics.
The game is supposed to be all about some group stealth, blending in with crowds to avoid detection. I guess they showed the combat instead because it's more exciting. 5/25/2007 2:01:37 PM |

^^The protagonist (whose name escapes me atm) is a member of the Hasishim. They were basically an order of Muslims that believed in a much deeper, mystical interpretation of the Quran than the conventional Muslims at the time. Their main targets were not the Christian Crusaders, interestingly enough, but Muslim leaders. They felt that mainstream Islam was being led by infidels, for lack of a better term, and so they killed them. They opted to do it in the day time, usually in front of a large crowd, for several reasons. It was psychologically terrifying for the populace to see their leaders murdered in front of them by people who had the balls to do it out in the open, but it was also a part of the Hashishim beliefs. They didn't want to kill from the shadows or from a distance because that was considered cowardice, so instead their prefered method of assassination was killing the target with a knife. This ensured that the assassin would not escape and would be caught, and therefore he would die a most honorable death. To die for the Order was the highest act that they could perform.

I'm sure this game's take on the Hashashim is a little different. 5/25/2007 2:21:54 PM |

Quote : | "When Assassin’s Creed was first announced for the 360, there were some comments made that there might be some differences in that version. Is everything going to be pretty much identical, or will there be any differences between the PS3 version and the 360 version? There shouldn’t be any differences at all. We’re sharing the exact same assets. The engines have the same capabilities. Both systems have different things going for them. With PlayStation 3, currently, you can see maybe a slight difference in some of the textures. With Xbox 360 right now you may see a little bit smoother framerate, maybe a couple more frames per second right now. It’s so negligible right now that unless you’re sitting there looking at them both side by side, you’re not going to see any difference. And that’s our goal—to deliver the exact same experience on both of them." |
It sounds like Ubisoft is right on track to make another PS3 port that has terrible textures and framerate problems. Awesome!

from one of the interviews the producer said that its completely up to the player how they complete the mission
if they sneak around and kill in stealth, if they power through killing all in their sight, down to how they get away what route to take
i'm really hyped for this game 5/25/2007 6:23:50 PM |
