Preferred Qualifications:
The ITS Messaging Services group is recruiting a Unix System Administrator. UNIX systems administration, preferably in Solaris or Linux, familiarity with sendmail or similar MTA software configuration, programming skills with scripting, PHP, Perl, Java, and/or SQL are highly desired. Experience installing, upgrading, and maintaining server hardware and peripheral devices (e.g., disk arrays) is highly desirable. Some experience in Windows Server administration, calendaring software, and mailing list software is a plus. As the campus messaging services are mission critical with 7x24 availability, some evening and weekend work is required as well as participation in on-call rotation.

yeah, for what it is, that's pretty damn good pay.


but I don't know if I could work for UNC, only because I'd be too tempted to bring the entire network to a screeching halt.

There is another position that has just been posted in secutiy. Should be able to search on it. Search jobs via department for Information Technology Services. I am posting the more senior positions assuming many in old school will be at that level. There are always plenty of lower positions as well.
