yeah luckily my friend is very proficient with mechanics. He knew something was wrong and thought it was the transmission so he took it in only b.c it was on warranty and he didn't feel like dealing with shit himself. After hearing back he cleaned out all the mud from under the hood and is going to drain the engine then take his jeep to another dealership. The mechanic even told him if he "tidied" things up he could take his jeep else where and have them fix it.

I bought a 2005 VW Golf TDI. I absolutely adore this car. Even though diesel costs more than gasoline, I still get double the mileage for nowhere near double the cost. I probably fill up every other week and haven't even noticed the inflated gasoline prices.

My husband and I love my car and plan on driving it into the ground.

Apparently Honda is working on a new diesel Accord and the results are impressive!

i'll buy a hybrid when they actually build one with good performance. I have driven a economical compact car since high school. When i start making some real money with my career after graduation I am not going to waste my $$ to buy another econobox (much to my parents distate) but want something i enjoy driving and proud to roll around in.

Sorry, but when I bought my car and for quite a while afterwards, diesel cost more than regular unleaded gasoline. Sometimes gasoline prices will really drop, though not recently, and RUG will cost less than diesel. Fortunately or unfortunately, depending on how you look at it, diesel prices do not really fluctuate like gasoline prices. So, I don't really pay attention to fuel prices anymore because it always costs me around 40 dollars to fill up my tank.

dude my civic was an awesome college car. I got it 7 years old for $5700. true it left something to be desired under the hood but it wasn't a complete turtle like some old clunkers i see on the road. Except for replacing the radiator ($600) at 156000 miles, knock on wood, I have not had any major mechanical errors. It gets great gas mileage i've gotten up too 36mpg on the highway which helps the college budget.

i plan on letting someone else pay the first year depreciation. I will probably look for a certified lightly used car btw 2-3 years no more then 40000 miles. Save about 5-8K

First car I bought was a Saab 900 for $13k. Financed about $9k which I paid off over a year and a half. Turned out to be a pretty solid decision in the long run. It got good gas mileage (over 30 on the highway), was cheap to insure, and gave decent performance with the 2.0 turbo. Saabs depreciate like hell though, so while you get a lot of car for the money on used ones you'll lose a lot for every year you keep it. I wouldn't hesitate to buy another one as long as I were going to keep it for years (at which point it doesn't really matter whether it is worth $2k or $4k when you sell it.)

Second was a Jeep Wrangler which was fun, but the gas mileage was shitty and it handled like a Jeep. I don't regret it though. I kept it over 2.5 years, put 40k on it, and sold it for $2000 less than I paid.

Bought a Honda S2000 about a year before selling the Jeep. Insanely fun, totally unpractical. Whenever I go for a couple of weeks without driving it I start to think of selling it. Then I drive it and think I'll keep it forever.

Bought a 1989 BMW 325i for a beater car. Ended up driving it all winter while the Jeep and Honda sat in the garage. Have since sold the Jeep, but still have the BMW and Honda. I drive this car to work every day and on trips where I need to take a bunch of stuff. Last week I drove it to Emerald Isle for the week. I've already gotten my money's worth on this car, so I'll either drive it till it croaks or sell it for a profit.

Okay, everyone, go ahead and laugh... all my friends, coworkers, even my parents and my sister do. This is a 2005 Chevy Aveo. I don't have any pictures of mine readily available, so I found one on google images. Mine looks like that one except it's white. Laugh all you want, but I got it brand new for $10k with automatic, power windows/doors, cd player, and all that good stuff. Also it's a "sport" version, so it gets better acceleration than the regular model. Oh, and did I mention that despite its small size it's got plenty enough room for my big fat ass? Despite the fact that I make more than enough money to buy something better now, I don't plan to get rid of it any time soon.
