Anyone know an effective way to kill them? They are like a locust. On some of my peach trees, there are about 10-15 per leaf. I trapped 3 pounds of them this morning, but it seems like there are more now then when I began. I can spray them with seven, but that washes off and they just come back. my yard cannot survive this onslaught. Help me TWW.

for adult beetles, you can get these traps that look like a yellow bag on a stick... they work pretty damn well. You may also want to treat your lawn with milky spore to kill the Japanese beetle grubs, which can also destroy your lawn before growing up and destroying your trees.

home depot or lowes would sell everything you need as far as the traps and sprays that hook up to your hose. better go asap. I used to work in the lawn and garden dept of a home depot and people come by the dozens to get all the beetle traps they can.

place the beetle traps as far away as possible from the shrubs that are getting attacked (preferrably in your neighbor's yard or across the street)... they contain beetle sex pheromone as a lure which brings many more bugs into the area.

Thanks for all the hints. I don't think there is any hope though, as according to sd2nc's link, we've planted pretty much everything that they are attracted to. I can sit on the deck and watch them rising out of the ground like hellspawn. I've given up, there are literally tens of thousands per tree...

I'm actually having this same problem

I made the mistake of placing a beetle trap about 30 yards from the plants that are getting hit, and it's just gotten worse I think

I'm going to lowe's during lunch to buy some kind of spray, and go out there tonight, take down that trap, and just kill as many as I can find

I hate those damn things

I also think i'm going to buy a second scent cake, and then plant both of them about 70-100 yards away from my house in opposite directions

My parents house is also getting attacked hardcore. All of the rose bushes, and plants and flowers on the back deack are absolutely FULL of these bad boys.

we ended up covering our fruit trees in netting, that worked pretty well, but was expensive and took a while to put up. The rest of our yard went to hell.

If you put water in a white container they will go to it and drown. I'm not saying that this will solve the problem by any means, but every one you kill is one that's not eating your trees.

not sure how it works w/ trees but sevin or bayer grub control will work. We use them at our recreational fields. Each bottle covers about 5,000 sq ft and you just hook it up to your hose. A day after spraying we had thousands of dead beetles (other variations than just japanese) and havent had a problem with them since

My puppies catch them on our screened in porch, play with them, then eat them. Eventually they will deplete the Japanese beetle population.
