I've got all of my school work (paper-wise) from the past 4 years. I'm not sure why I saved them in the first place...but should I just throw them away? Will I ever need them? I guess most of the important stuff (papers, projects, etc.) is saved digitally.

I sometimes regret not getting rid of more earlier because it gets tiring lugging this stuff all around from school to gradschool etc...

In my case I have to keep it because I still use it on occasion.

I plan on scanning and archiving my notebooks digitally somehow so that I can throw the physical ones away someday.

I dread doing it, because I put so much blood, sweat, and tears into putting such notebooks together.

this is the reason that i switched to all digital

use the convertible tablet to take notes in all my classes

i regret not getting it sooner

the only thing is that you need to make regular backups

^^^ spend the extra $100 or so on an automatic document feed scanner. Put a pile of papers on top, press a button, go do something else.

I'm not worrying about textbooks.
I have papers from every class over the past 4 years in folders categorized by year and class. Most of these are graded tests, notes, and graded homeworks.
Is these any reason that I need to keep these?

I had kept everything from my 4 years of college until I graduated. I realized that I had never looked back at any of my files, so I threw it all away. I did keep a few textbooks that I either liked or felt would relate to my career. There are references on the internet and professional books that can serve you well in lieu of lugging around a huge pile of handwritten and printed notes that aren't indexed and easily searchable.

i've re-used a few papers, but they're all saved online. i really don't see the point in keeping old tests and whatnot if you're done with school and done with the class. you'll probably rarely ever need any of it. the only paper i've ever kept was a long research study i did, even though it's also saved online. i may need to look back on it for grad school related papers.

I saved my engineering and technical notes, as well as any papers I had written. However, I destroyed my notes from B.S. GER classes like psychology, interpersonal communication, and possibly economics. It gave me great pleasure.

Luckily I got in the habit of typing up my notes, and all of my major research papers I also have electronic copies of. So I've kept some of the important stuff that way. And I've kept several of the more interesting college textbooks. I figure they are better references than my own personal notes/graded tests/small projects and are something I could cite if need be.

i kept all my papers, going back to HS....just research, book reports, things like that......interesting reading something I wrote my freshman year in HS.
