THIS IS A BOAT THAT SANK THE OTHER DAY DURING THE TOURNAMENT. THEY WERE NOT IN THE TOURNAMENT BUT THE BOAT THAT RESCUED THEM WAS (POLE POSITION).

THE BOAT SANK. THIS THREAD SUCKS. 6/14/2007 1:56:54 PM |

The point of the thread was to show what those people went through, the help given by pole position, and some great pictures of an otherwise rarely seen chain of events. 6/14/2007 2:01:18 PM |

Says they were taking on water which is pretty obvious so my assumption is that the bilge pumps went out also or more likely an electrical issue and couldn't prevent the water from entering the hull. The realy cause is still being investigated by the coast guard so I could be way off. 6/14/2007 2:15:49 PM |

I would vomit ridiculously in panic...
I'm not a very good swimmer, so my biggest fear is drowning, b/c I almost drowned to death when I was little...
Even with a life jacket, I'd be screwed! 6/14/2007 7:00:39 PM |

WTF did they forget to put the plug in?????
I mean what would cause a craft like that to take on water randomly?
If they did leave the plug out it most likely did not start taking on much water while they were moving and I bet they stopped to fish and by the time they noticed it was too late. 6/15/2007 12:17:26 AM |

Best to to be prepared. Thats why we carry an EPIRB, Handheld GPS and VHS, Offshore PFD's and the works of safety devices. The more you travel offshore, the more likely something is going to happen.
I also can't believe that guy is in the water with out a PFD. That is just stupid. 6/15/2007 8:00:21 AM |

why did they leave all the rods on the boat? those things are $texas 6/15/2007 9:32:36 AM |

^Just to dangerous to be worrying with those when the boat is going down as well as the guys on the pole position probably not wanting all those people on their boat much less a bunch of rods all over the place. They are only allowed to fish for 4 of the 6 days in this tournament so that really is a big deal to go and do something like they did to save those folks and not fish the remainder fo the day because you are taking these individuals back to port. The entry fee alone for this tournament is 12,500.00. 6/15/2007 10:04:41 AM |
