i know alot of places have instated a membership system to so they are allowed to deny people but why is there not any rule/law that says an establishment's dress code has to be posted?? not playin the race card here but more and more i've been not allowed into a place then i see someone walk out with ripped jeans hangin of thier asses and rockin flip flops. i would be perfectly ok if they had a big ass sign that says NO :then list my exact outfit. but some times it's just hard to believe it's my outfit.

What if the club just wanted to keep the atmosphere diverse and already had enough negros inside?

Not trying to play the ignorant card, but its not like the whole club can be full of negros.

Typically if there's a dress code clubs will put it in their advertisements and on their websites.

I guess i coulda gone home and changed but i got lazy. It is hard to keep track of what all bars require dress code or not. So why not lets make this a bars that require dress code thread

^ exactly i'm not sayin the shit doesn't work both ways but i've never been denied entry to a "black" club bc i was white. did you see peopel wearing simular shit through the entrance or coming out?

yea, my point is that the shit should be listed, not in the door mans head so he can change what's accetptable at his discretion.

if u''re gonna have a dress code should it not be fair and consistant?

trendy is the dress code

you don't look trendy you don't match dress code

i mean lucky jeans can cost 200+ and come with holes in them.

^haha yeah. You're denied because you're not particularly trendy. I've defin been allowed in clubs in Raleigh before with flip-flops and shorts. It's not my norm, but if i'm at a bar, and i get invited to a club, i might as well go have a few drinks despite having shorts and flip flops on.

I mean seriously if you really want to go to a club it's not that hard to put on some slacks and a dress shirt. Hell, now-a-days you can get away with jeans, a nice pair of tennis shoes, and a button down.

this topic poster should have posted what he was wearing. I am sure he was dressed like a thug, jeans sagging down to the crotch and a kobe bryant jersey or white wife beater I would not be surprised at him being turned away. I saw a white dude dressed like this trying to enter Hi-5 and turned away.

Not at Ess lounge you are not on the weekends. The bouncer said he'd let me in if i went back and changed even said jeans were fine as long as they were not shorts. I'm used to going places like Big Easy, EV, and shit where it doesn't matter. Especially summer time putting on jeans by default is not very comfortable.

How about bars or clubs that don't allow hats, but have no other dress code restrictions to speak of? Pretentiousness expresses itself in unusual ways.

1. Membership isn't set to keep people out. Its a requirement by the state. If you don't make a certain percent of your profit from food sales, you are required to be a members only club. Some clubs are pretty slack on this, but it is a policy all places serving alcohol must follow.

2. Dress codes are usually posted somewhere. Sometimes at the door (such as at Pantana Bob's), sometimes on the website, sometimes on advertising, and sometimes not at all. Clubs usually will have a sign posted somewhere in the venue that states "We reserve the right to refuse service to anyone." This isn't a requirement, because it is a privately owned business, and in no way are they required to serve you.

You can always try to put the blame on sexual or racial discrimination, but good luck ever trying to prove it. It's their club, and if they don't think your money is good enough, they don't need to take it.

they want people who know how to dress, not preppy dickheads wearing their collared shirts, khaki shorts and rainbows. (who the fuck would wear shorts and sandals to a damn night club)

Well, we have a party coming up this Friday at LC's (Was Sin City) featuring John B, and there is no dress code, though the DJ often dresses outlandish 80's style, and we encourage everyone to 'dress as wild or as mild as you want' since there will be a mix. You can check out the details on the Calendar at http://www.thewolfweb.com/calendar_event.aspx?event=5371 or at ncfathom.com.

This discussion does remind me of "Knocked Up," where the pregnant girl and the older woman try to get into the club, and the black bouncer tells them he can't let them in..then explains that he can only let in 5% African-Americans...so if there are 30 people in the club, that mean he can only let in 1.5 black people, so he has to hope a black midget rolls up in there...

pb's will let just about anyone in - i don't think anyone would consider it a club - it's barely a shithole bar

If I owned a club, I would have denied your ass too if you tried to get in wearing a fucking sweatshirt. I don't care how cold it is, you don't wear a god damn sweatshirt to a club.

PBs denied Chris Crawford for wearing shorts that went past the knee. I called the doorman a racist and got in his and the cops face. It didn't help the situation.

because if there is a sign saying wat not to wear or wat to wear, then that means that u dont know about the club good enough.

if u think about it.

for those who watch tv and realworld, how many upscale clubs did they go to with signs outside the door.

good clubs dont have to put it out about what they wear

just like with restaurants, mcdonalds has a sign saynig atleast wear shirt and shoes.......u go to nelsons or any nice restaurant, u know what to wear

You know as soon as they put up a sign some asshole in nylon parachute pants is going to roll up there and demand to be let in because nobody in their right mind would think to include parachute pants on the sign. Thus, they have to use their own best judgment.

I have faith in the bouncers decision until you post a picture of yourself, in the outfit that you were wearing, with your hair the same as it was at the time.
