What is the best sounding exhaust to put on the 2003 Mustang Cobra? I have been looking at Magnaflow, Borla, Bassani, SLP, etc.

Straight pipes are cheaper, and sound just as good, just go with 2" to keep it from popping.

I also would like to replace the headers, but I want something that sounds good with stock headers and after market headers also.....

Another vote for bassani

I have a bassani catless X on my 94gt, and it sounds so much better than some ive heard with macs and bbk and magnaflow.

bassani and magnaflow are good quality stuff. both stainless steal. but you will pay top dollar for it. I got a cheap mac system and couldnt be happier with the sound.

also, its my opinon that the straight thru mufflers sound great with stock headers. but once you put longtubes on it then they sound like ass.(mine did) thats why i went to a chambered muffler

for the record, i have had

bassani catback, bassani offroad x, stock headers - sounds good
magnaflow catback, magnaflow offroadx, stock headers - sounds good
magnalfow catback, vrs offroad x, bbk longtube headers - sounds like ass
flowmaster catback, bbk offroad h, bbk longtube headers - sounds like every other mustang on the planet.
mac catback, bbk offroad h, bbk longtube headers - sounds the best out of all my combinations
mac catback, bbk catted h, bbk longtube headers - once a year to pass inspections

magnaflow catback. friend of mine had it on his 03 cobra and it sounded nasty... dynoed 427 with just that and a k&n air filter
