not trying to pimp someone's thread for them, but FEAR had the best single player campaign of any FPS game, hands down (except maybe Painkiller, but that's another genre of FPS there). When I played it, there was never a time where I felt like the devs were making me run through copy-pasted parts of previous encounters (coughalo). The multiplayer is pretty good too, but it's the single player campaign that stood out.
