Not sure if ya'll were aware or not but Cary just opened the USA Baseball National Training Facility which has 3 fields and 1 stadium field. It's amazing.. but anyways, Tuesday they opened the facility with the Tournament of Stars. The TOS has 144 of the top high schoolers in the country split up into 8 teams. They are playing games all week and from there, USA Baseball will select a group of invitees to try out for the JR National Team.
Tickets are $10 per day or $40 all week. It's great baseball. Games on Tuesday at 1:00, 4:00 and 7:00. If you don't have anything to do and enjoy baseball, it's worth the money. The complex itself is worth the price of admission.

this is directly across the street from my aunt and uncle
not even 10 years ago their neighborhood (which is just a street with houses on it) was the only "neighborhood" around
its ridiculous how much its grown up around that area
i remember when they announced they were building the facility there and it blew all of our minds 6/21/2007 2:39:24 AM |

it's baseball though, hardly any of the population in cary, let alone the greater Raleigh/Durham area really cares. Hope there is a drug company in RTP that can hook these guys up with steroids like the rest of baseball
FTW????
BTW...if anyone watched sportscenter tonight, that bicycle kick for a goal in soccer was way more impressive than Sosa taking roids and hitting HR #600 tonight. I really hope they checked his bat for corking....cheating ass baseball players.....go ahead and celebrate your Bonds guys......I can't wait til real sports start back up in november.

im a soccer fan so im obviously biased but baseball is terrible as a spectator sport. this coming from someone who played it from about 7 to 15. (stopped playing baseball for lacrosse). only reason i played so long was that i was unfortunately decent. our HS had a terrible baseball team but a good lacrosse team and i had never played lacrosse (but loved soccer and hockey - similar concepts).
obviously all baseball fans will disagree with me. but it was the most boring sport i played, and even more boring to watch.
and no im not some 'all i watch is soccer and hockey' sports fan. i love watching football, basketball, hockey, lacrosse, motocross etc etc. but baseball meh, i cant even enjoy the world series like i could as a kid

yeah Keb, because kicking a ball and eating orange slices is so much tougher than hitting a 87 MPH curve that drops off the table. get back to drinking your capri sun, and we'll keep enjoying a real sport that's enjoyed in countries that have plumbing. 6/21/2007 10:09:26 AM |

and apparently you didn't see that kick.
i just don't see how a fan of a sport can celebrate something like that from a proven cheater.
I am in no way knocking "America's game", it will just be great to see the day when baseball finally cleans up the taint that is making a mockery of the sport. Even though I am not that avid of a baseball fan I am beginning to get excited about the fact that there will be a possible chase for the HR record again this year.6/21/2007 2:57:00 PM |

because comparing MLB to elementary school soccer is a fair comparison. guess what? my baseball games in elementary school had oranges and capri suns too
and yea..because spain, italy, england, germany, france, brazil, the netherlands, etc etc dont have plumbing.
im not saying that baseball sucks. it is just boring from my point of view. and i respect that people like it. and we should just leave it at that because at least to me it irks me how someone can try and explain how a game of constant action (think english premier league) is more boring than a game with such a slow pace.
and yes the other side of this coin would be that things like this would be more exciting from a sports fan's point of view without the impurities washing out the excitement here. this goes for a lot of hte professional sports these days :/.
