Lookin for your used grolsch bottles. If you're a big grolsch drinker, or you have some laying around, let me know. Need them to bottle up some homebrew

Oh, and they have to be the swing-top kind.

go to american brewmaster and buy a bottle capper and come un-crimped crowns. then you can recap any standard non-twist off with mush better result. a capper is around 15 and crowns are like 3 bucks for a gross.

^^^ I can only hope you were making an ironic reference to my username. I'm definitely not a southerner.

i haven't had any trouble with the swing-tops, and not only do i like the pint size, but it isn't as wasteful with the caps, and it's easier then doing caps.

I loaned my previous neighbor about 20 of these for the same purpose.

After a year, he gave them back, reporting that regular plastic soda bottles sealed more tightly.

The batches he made with Grolsch bottles were all "too unfiltered" tasting--mild contamination or something. I tasted most batches and he seemed to be telling the truth.

If you still want them, make an offer.

Unrelated issue: anyone remember when the stopper tops were porcelain?
They were porcelain at one time, weren't they? (they're all plastic now)
I remember using one as a roach holder a long time ago--I'm pretty sure it was porcelain and not plastic.

Couple of interesting things about this thread...

yup, they were and some still are.

and furthermore:

http://www.americanbrewmaster.com/catalog/

sign up for their dealio, it's worth it. Buy some "growlers" or "flip-top bottles" (preferably opaque) -AKA: Grolsh Bottles. Brewmaster had a special on a case of them last week/week before for cheap. Something like 25 bucks. I think they have the rubber tops though...

Having just bottled Fallen Angel Strong Pale last night, I'm pretty psyched! (Oh, btw, we used 12 oz. bottles with caps).
