Description

Job assignment will be associated with the Instrumentation & Controls (I&C) engineering team at McGuire Nuclear Station. Some job responsibilities/functions include:

o Develop/maintain effective equipment reliability for I&C system support and/or components assigned using existing Duke Energy processes, such as Engineering Support Program
o Perform equipment monitoring, trending and failure analysis
o Responsible/Accountable for design basis protection and regulatory compliance of assigned systems and/or components
o Provide I&C engineering support to station work groups (Operations, Chemistry, Radiation Protection, Maintenance)
o Provide I&C engineering support with station processes such as procedure development, calculation development and configuration management
o Participate in engineering training, qualification process and industry related user groups
o Champion short or long-term projects to improve system/component reliability
o Address and resolve complex I&C related issues identified in corrective action program, work management system or operating experience


Qualifications
Basic:

1. BS Degree in electrical engineering from an accredited university/college
2. Demonstrated effective written communications including technical writing
3. Proven experience working with desktop computing programs


Desired:

1. Previous work experience in the design, operation and/or maintenance of nuclear power plant
2. Fundamentals of Engineering certification
3. Demonstrated leadership ability
4. Masters Degree in engineering related program
5. Demonstrated effective interpersonal and communication skills
6. Demonstrated academic excellence
7. Demonstrated organizational/planning skills with ability to multi-task
8. Demonstrated effective work management, problem solving and analysis skills

Working Conditions:

o Some overtime
o Some weekend work
o Office and industrial work environment (walking, light lifting, some climbing, exposure to temperature, noise and radiation
o Highly procedural and process-oriented structure due to strict regulatory requirements
