omg no money shot, wtf. you could have at least taken a picture.
rotomolding: the slowest way to rapid protoyping!
it's a process that results in a hollow molded product by basically tumbling plastic powder in a hot mold.
whatcha makin' with it? 6/26/2007 7:35:34 AM |

^^That's extremely gay.
^Yea, unfortunately I'm recording with a 20 dollar all in one digital camcorder thing and it pretty much sucks all the way around for image and sound.
I'll be posting high res stills and a complete article about this guy on snotmonkey in a few days or so 6/26/2007 6:44:28 PM |

Maybe I missed something. What is the heat source? 6/26/2007 9:58:53 PM |

no heat source. I use all RTV (room temperature vulcanizing) materials. so you are mixing a two part solution that chemically reacts to form a plastic, resin or rubber.
have to be careful to mix very accurately and fully, but its a great way to make prototype parts in your home that are production ready. 6/26/2007 11:59:53 PM |

if you make your molds out of metal, you could use peltier units to heat the mold while it was rotating. 6/27/2007 11:54:59 AM |

you could actually use like pewter or another very low temp metal and make a metal mold box with a heatplate inside.
it would definitely take a while to rig it, but its definitely doable 6/27/2007 12:16:28 PM |
