Well, I guess it had to come sometime. My parents are meeting his dad tonight and I'm nervous as hell even though I don't have a reason to be. Hold me

heh our meeting went decent - except my step-dad can be a little crazy sometimes - my step-dad and her mom ordered the same meal at dinner except one was veggie ravioli and one was lobster - they were given the wrong plate and instead of just switching plates - my step-dad thought it was a better idea to switch the individual ravioli pieces and kind of touched them with his finger and fork while doing so - classy

my mom and stepdad met my girlfriend's parents at her college graduation. they met my dad a year later when they came out to visit us for that thanksgiving and we all took a trip up to see my dad.

both meetings were very pleasant as all 5 parents are normal, rational, well educated people.

^Lucky. My in-laws are anything but. My mother-in-law is an obese loudmouth sarcastic bitch who thinks she is right all the time. My wifes stepfather is an alcoholic redneck, but he's pretty quiet, so he doesn't really bother anybody. But her mother is one of these running her mouth constantly bitches. Needless to say they are nice to each other in person, and shit-talking behind their backs. Thank God they rarely see meet each other.

Same here. In 4 years of dating, my husband and I never got around to getting our parents together. So, they didn't meet one another until everyone showed up at the church for the rehearsal. And a year later, they haven't seen each other since the wedding.

we had an engagement party where my parents and her parents met.

they all get along great and get together from time to time.

But then again, my parents are Indian, and hers are South African, so they tend to look for reasons to get along. I'm sure if we had american families, they'd probably hate each other.

The first time my parents met my mother-in-law she informed them that she Googled their address and found out that they have something like 800 sex offenders living around them, whereas she only has about 20.

What the hell do you say to something like that?

Eh, it was painless for me but it was like 4 years ago. Went over to her parents house for drinks and then to one of the Heritage Games in Reynolds with them...

I knew her for like 1.5 years before that too..

I've been dating my gf for over 6 years, and our parents still haven't met. I don't see it happening until a wedding.
