Just a note for anyone considering 579.

This is the hardest motherfucking class I have ever taken (and I have BS in EE and CPE and have taken 8 grad level CSC courses). Had a 4.0 until this class and now it's going to be in the shitter.

Studied all god damn week for the 2nd exam and made a 67. The median/mean were both 71 for that test last semester. No extra credit. No curve.

Homeworks, which for me were incredibly time consuming, and lectures would be posted on a Monday and due on the same Friday at 3pm. Meaning a handful of week nights during which I had no time to start. I had to take off from work several times.

I had no interest in this course and have seen almost no practical application so far, but it was one of only 4 courses I could have taken and the rest appeared to have even less relevance outside of networking. I wish I had taken the summer off.
