I was wondering how to get the songs off of my video I-pod. My hard drive crashed and I had to replace it and reinstall Windows XP. Unfortunately I did not back up my music. I am reluctant to plug my I-pod into my computer because I am afraid that it will erase the songs from my I-pod. Is there anyway to retrieve the songs from my I-pod and put them back on my PC?

search next time eh. just view hidden folders in the folder options and you can pull them out. 7/3/2007 5:27:03 PM |

Apple's Support Forums give detailed instructions on how to do this. I even think they have pictures. 7/3/2007 6:13:41 PM |

It costs $25, but is a really slick piece of software.
There are other choices available as well, but are more of a pain. 7/3/2007 8:50:49 PM |

Yes, you can get it from the hidden folders, but the file names are all gone and replaced with random letters/numbers.
Download EphPod. It is free, and you get all your music with the file names intact. 7/4/2007 6:57:44 AM |

^ yeah thats probably a good point, but if you are really only using it in a random playlist or on the pod, it isnt too big of a deal. i have a regular ole mp3 player from phillips and dont have these issues. it is quite nice. 7/4/2007 10:20:18 AM |
