so we want to go in a trip this december for my birthday... if we're going far, it'll be leaving around december 15th and getting back around the 20th.
we've been to orlando (last winter) and san diego (this summer). vegas might be too expensive this winter because of the air fare.. and we don't want to be in a plane for 6+ hours any time soon.
east coast ideas have been places like NYC. if louisiana wasn't still fucked up, i'd want to go there.
we're not looking to spend thousands of dollars, since we just spent about $3k on the honeymoon in june.
make suggestions. we obviously want to book as early as possible to save $cash monies. 7/6/2007 9:00:08 AM |

Cruise will be the cheapest thing you could prolly do. Cruises that leave btw the 10th and the 17th are really cheap compared to the most of the year. My fiance and I went on a 7 day cruise last year, we had a room with window but no balcony, total cost for the boat and tips was around 1200 7/6/2007 9:03:47 AM |

The Grand Canyon or Mexico would probably still be nice in December. 7/6/2007 1:20:34 PM |

You can usually get decent deals on Cancun in the winter. We went in December one year and it was a fabulous break from the chilly weather. They've got tons of all inclusive places and you can go explore the aztec (or mayan???) ruins that are a busride away. There are some resorts that have a more college party type atmosphere, some that are family oriented, some that are couples oriented etc etc. 7/6/2007 1:51:07 PM |

Are you looking for someplace warm?
If not, try New York and get your touristy winter ice skate on in Rockefeller Plaza! 7/6/2007 2:10:06 PM |

The west coast beaches in Florida are really nice in December -- the temps barely get below 75 and the humidity is almost non-existent.
Sarasota's a good place to start. Very refreshing, laid back feel -- but lots to do. Plus the neighboring beach (siesta key) is incredible. 7/7/2007 10:13:27 AM |

Most wouldn't like to do this but Kitty Hawk is abandoned when it gets cold, makes for a peaceful and romantic getaway. Not so sure about December but I know it gets still and quiet in February.

NYC, New Orleans (places visitors go aren't fucked up), Flordia Beaches
hell the first two you already suggested for yourself and they wouldn't be to much for 5 days. 7/8/2007 7:45:20 AM |

NYC in December usually means $texa$ for hotels. We were going to go for my b-day a few years ago and ended up in Paris b/c it was cheaper overall. YMMV. 7/9/2007 7:53:29 AM |

my aunt, uncle, and my aunt's sister went to new orleans in march i think it was? they said they had a great time, so i'm thinking the touristy areas are good to go. b/c my aunt and her sister definitely aren't the type to enjoy a 'rough around the edges' vacation. 7/9/2007 5:20:56 PM |
