Does the NCAA allow this?
Fees for Camps:
•Charlotte: $200 for the week/per person
•Greensboro: $180 for the week/ per person
Scheduled appearances by current and former Tar Heel players such as: •Sean May •Tyler Hansbrough •Marvin Williams •Jackie Manuel •Bobby Frasor •Marcus Ginyard •Ty Lawson
How is this not a violation of some kind? He is using his and his teammates current status on the basketball team to make money.
I found this when I was reading today's charlotte observer and there was a 1/4 page ad in the sports section.

He's used up his eligibility, so he's free to do whatever he wants. 7/15/2007 5:01:43 PM |

Don't know whether he graduated, but he played one year at JMU, sat out a year as a transfer, and then played three years at UNC.
So he's done as an NCAA athlete. 7/15/2007 5:04:39 PM |

what about this
Daily Schedule for all camps will include the following:
* Warm ups * Fast break drills * Stations: ball handling, shooting, defense, fundamentals, offensive movement, rebounding * Break (campers watch a video and have a snack) * Individual and team competitions (free throws, hot shot, knockout, shooting games, relays) * Games: two scrimmage games per day and other competitive games * Lunch * Guest speaker and/or demonstration * Autographs
Essentially he his charging people for current players autographs. Also, is it legal if current UNC players are getting paid to do this? 7/15/2007 5:06:23 PM |

basketball camps ain't free, UNC does a basketball camp every year and of course they feature their current roster and coaches and also bring back past players, and with them, it's big time NBA players. Not sure why it's difficult to understand that they charge, you have to pay the coaches, food, bills for using the gym etc. It isn't free to them. But hey, if you find a free basketball camp, let me know. They are also not charging for the autographs, that is included. I think I'd be more shocked if the players didn't sign autographs for a bunch of kids, seriously. 7/15/2007 5:10:34 PM |

this is the only way he's ever going to make money off of basketball, unless some fool hires him as a coach down the line 7/15/2007 6:10:39 PM |

write a letter to the NCAA... they will shut down the camp, take away all scholarships, and declare UNC ineligible for post season play in 2008.
