^^ strange thing - that was first published about 20 years ago, and anyone reading it then would know what it meant. Pretty much anyone born after then would have no idea what that means

My 5-year-old is super into Calvin and Hobbes now, it's great.

The only bad part is he'll act out parts of it and get in trouble

I don't think I've ever laughed at a Calvin and Hobbes. Not once.

I murdered my inner child a long time ago and threw the body into a lake, so maybe that's why.

I liked them both, two of the better comics in the newspaper when i was a kid.

As a kid I read the comics almost daily. And I found it a bit confusing that most of them were not funny, at all.

I don't think Garfield is funny either, but maybe I just don't fully appreciate/understand the nuance/subtleties/differences between cartoons and comics. I like irony/sarcasm/dark/dry/deadpan humor, so stuff like the Far Side ticks those boxes without needing a bunch of context. Bloom County was another one of my favorites.

Well, Garfield was one of those that wasn't smart or clever, and wasn't really funny.

Yep, "Far Side", "Calvin and Hobbes", and "Bloom County" were some of my favorites.

So many mediocre comics just stay in the rotation forever: "Beetle Bailey", "Garfield", "Hi & Lois", etc.
