I've always had mostly Fords so I've never messed with Chevrolets much, but today I finished putting a used 350 in my '67 C-60. At some point or another it was converted to HEI and the cap is not marked with the location of the #1 cylinder. Which post on the cap is for the #1 wire? 7/21/2007 11:20:29 PM |

The diagram assumes the the distributer was indexed correctly during the conversion, just put the #1 cylinder at TDC on the compression stroke and the post that the rotor is pointing to is #1. 7/22/2007 12:18:07 AM |

^^that's a standard sbc diagram. hei has the same order/pattern, but the number 1 terminal will be about where the number 2 is on that diagram (assuming the distributor is oriented at the correct 10-12btdc).
check the cap a little closer. a lot of them will have some sort of identifying mark (dot, etc.) for the number 1 terminal. 7/22/2007 12:40:49 AM |

^ exactly, on the crab style cap, with them terminals perpendicular to the engine, #2 in that diagram is #1, with a normal cap, could be anywhere 7/22/2007 9:30:23 AM |

I just got it running. I've still got to put a light on it to get it timed right and adjust the carburetor and clutch, but it seems to be running pretty decent. 7/23/2007 1:32:59 PM |

the truck is running good, but I need a center dump exhaust manifold for it. I need the passenger side one without the alternator bracket. anybody got one they want to sell? 7/28/2007 11:14:08 PM |

good luck finding a decent one, they crack like all holy hell, but nearly all dump trucks, school buses, etc had em, hit up some junkyards 7/29/2007 12:51:27 AM |

there's a few places around here I can look, but I may have to buy a new one on ebay. it looks like I'm going to have to start hauling logs with it pretty soon. 7/29/2007 9:34:57 AM |
