About a week ago I got my first speeding ticket for going 16 mph over on I-85 (speed limit was 70) near Thomasvile, NC. I don't know how bad of a case this is and I'm very concerned.
What would be my chances of getting out of this case without any trafic violation penalty or leaving any record on my history (especially to my insurance company). Could this case be dropped (or reduce the speed down to 1 point) without having to hire a lawyer? Any helpful advice would be great.

i have had almost 16 speeding tickets since i turned 16

i've used a lawyer for 3 of those / all of which were out of the norm circumstances

speeding in a school zone
76 in a 35
and one other bullshit ticket

the only ticket EVER to go on my insurace...out of almost 16 was the 76 in a 35
i have also only used 2 PJCs for all my tickets

go in, tell the DA that you want it reduced to 9 over
pay the court costs

Is your time and effort worth the money for a lawyer?

Most of the time the ADA (usually without even having to ask) will reduce it to 9 over simply by showing up. It's a win-win because they get their money and you don't get fucked with your insurance.

A lawyer may get you out of it completely, but likely he will just be getting it reduced to 9 over just like you could have done.
