it's consistently ranked one of the worst cities to live in in America.
other than that, i don't know much about it. 7/26/2007 5:58:03 PM |

I can see that.
It's a vacation hotspot, not a spot to setup your life.
It's in the desert #1, no major sports team, the same 10 shows 365 days a year, the same casinos, the same lights, etc. It'd be majorly old after like 3 months, IMO. And unless you plan on driving over to CA for some action, there's not a whole lot to do there besides the obvious.
Course, I hear the tax situation there is fairly advantageous. 7/27/2007 8:28:49 AM |

whatever happens there, apparently stays there.
so if someone was living there, they couldn't really tell you about it. 7/27/2007 9:52:09 AM |

I lived and worked there for half a year and it got old real quick. I commuted from north Vegas down to the strip everyday and the highway traffic is congested pretty much all day. One hour each way, and not much faster even if you took the back roads. Didn't really see much of a public transportation system to speak of, besides little shuttles and monorail running between casinos. And I'm pretty sure the CAT bus just goes up and down the strip. So yeah, I'd say you're definitely going to need a car unless you live close to casino alley, which would probably be obscenely expensive if there are even any places there that aren't hotels.
I guess that's what happens when a city is completely centered around gaming. If you ever want a laugh, go check out a Las Vegas Public Library. 8/4/2007 3:10:04 AM |

Dont drive the strip unless you have too. Stick to Paradise Rd and you'll do fine. 9/21/2007 7:41:05 AM |

i just got back and in more than 50% of the locals I spoke with - the concensus was pretty much that it gets old after about a year.
and i would agree that the city-data website would be the best bet on info 9/25/2007 5:06:26 PM |
