So...before i get bitched at...i did a search, and all i saw was posts about avian and exotic care not being the greatest, and I want to know what vet people actually like. I just got a hedgehog and she looks like she has scabs on her nose. Reading online...this could be either mange, ringworm, or just from being house with her littermates. I want to make sure she's ok, so I'd like to find a good vet to treat her.

Avian & Exotic is the only one I've heard of that treats such animals. Maybe Piedmont Wildlife would have some experience with hedgehogs? Some regular vets that do a lot of pocket pets might be willing to see something like that. I wonder if VSH in Cary or the vet school at state would treat em.

A lot of vets are pretty loose about how they dispense dewormers like drontal for cats and dogs. Does it work on other animals too? Even if a regular vet doesn’t see hedgehogs, they could probably send a fecal sample off to a lab somewhere that would know how to read it.

Dr. Atlee is an animal dermatologist in NC, don't know if she does hedgehogs, but some of those conditions might be something she knows about.

Sorry I don't really know anything about hedgehogs, but atleast this will bump your thread.

I wonder if the zoo would have someone working for them whose education included learning a variety of animals including hedgehogs?
