Anyone use the voip service ViaTalk? What has been your experience?

I'm looking into possibly going VoIP for my home phone and haven't decided between ViaTalk for SIP, Skype, Cox Digital Phone, and Vonage. SIP seems to have spotty quality right now and shady companies, Skype might be dead if SIP became popular and easy to use, Vonage might go under due to its legal proceedings, and Cox Digital Phone is only in the running with it's local only service because it would be almost twice the price for unlimited long distance as skype.

Any comments? Please share.

I just got Viatalk about 2 weeks ago since Sunrocket went under.. There isnt really any good reason that the same thing couldnt happen to Viatalk.

The call quality with viatalk so far has been good, maybe better than Sunrocket. I havent had any bad calls with them yet. However, they customer support sucks. I submited a LOA for porting my number a week ago and have gotten no response on to whether they got it or if it was processing. if you try calling there are 70 people ahead of you. I also submited a webticket to get 6 extra months over a week ago which hasnt been processed.

Best I could do was submit a "urgent" webticket on porting my number on friday, but still no response.

Viatalk will allow you to hook up any box that uses sip to their service, which will say you $30 I just used my old sunrocket innomedia box.

From MagicJack's FAQ:

"Does my computer have to be on all the time? Yes"

That pretty much takes that option out of the running. Thanks for the info on Viatalk. Sounds like it's not for me.
